Like I said, I go to school every day with a group of headstrong friends. Since we live in poverty, and are very competitive people, We place bets on fights. Kinda like, street fighting, gambling, that kind of stuff.
My friend Axel comes to pick me up from my little crib which ill explain later. We don't have cars so its not a 'pick up; type motion, he comes along to walk with me so he doesn't get into a fight. Axel, Axel Rertili, is a rather wimpy boy. He's constantly afraid and socially awkward, His small brown eyes just scream 'don't fight me' which on this island is a threat. He doesn't deserve live in such a aggressive environment. Being the innocent one of our group must be the worst.
Anyway, Its currently 7:53 am so Axel will be here soon. I live in a little cot on the side of a building, Its not the best but its what I have. Its winterish at the moment so its kinda cold but the burning passion to kick Blair Wright's ass is keeping me warm. I hear some quiet foot steps and leave my home. I see Axel down the alley walking toward me. I walk toward him so he could feel less awkward. While walking to him, I see my reflection in the broken windows. If only I had glasses, Id be able to see it better.
Axel breaths out some frost "I don't know how you could live in a tent." he said to me, we high five as a greeting cause if you don't high five your frineds when you see them, who even are you.
"You get used to it, Your parents actually live in this district so you're lucky." I replied, Wrapping a scarf around my cold neck.
"You know, like if offered before, you could come live with us." He offered. He and his damn soft family live in a 3 bedroom house if i remember correctly. I would rather not.
"Like I said before, living in a house isn't my cup of tea. It'd make me weak." I said "No offence." I always have to be on a constant state of awareness, going weak here could kill you. If only I was a Leo my life would be a LOT better.
We walked down the sidewalk and see the same old sights. People constantly fighting. Axel clings to my arm, blood makes him woozy. Anyway, I see a few gangs that go to our school. You got the Blood Taints, who wear red strings on their ring finger. Then, you got the Saints who Sin, They cut crosses into their arms. Last but not least, the Blue Shirts. Axel and I aren't in our own gang, Maybe because my group doesn't really fit the criteria of any of them. We pass the fighting gangs and see the entrance of our school down the road.
"Oh shit, We had anatomy homework didn't we?' Axel asked
"Don't know, don't care." I replied. Grades really only mattered on the big and more relevant islands. "We had Weightlifting homework though." I said.
"Well I didn't do that, I think only you and Cam care about that class." He said picking at a hangnail
"Cam and her smart ass? I doubt it." I said, Cam is a smart girl, she loves science and geography but knows how to fight pretty well. She isn't one to mess around with.
"Well, I kinda like her, how she doesn't fight much but rather likes to learn..." Axel said, Axel is new to our group so I 'never knew'.
"I know, Bro, I catch you looking at that blonde hair of hers all the time. She's gonna get killed with how long it is. She should cut it." I said touching my own, short red hair.
"Juniper, You live a life of fighting thugs and getting tattoos. Cam and I live a life of fear and learning." He said trying to fight back
"No, only you live a life of fear and learning. Unlike you, Cam can fight." I said flicking his head
We walk through the gates and walk through all the mingling people. We head to our group, which usually meets under the stairs but this time, we heard our friend yelling. It was Jax. Jax is a tall, blonde kid who has no self control to fights. He's crazy strong. We walked up to the crowd and low and behold, he was fighting this other kid named Hugh. Oh well right? He can take him down, Hugh is a scrawny kid.
"Ill cut your kidneys out with a kitchen knife you bitch!" Hugh screamed at Jax
