THE UNTOLD DESTINY

Investigation Begins...

That evening, Mom was seeing some profiles again just for her time pass. "Here is another profile." She said. "This boy looks really nice, and his profile is also pretty suitable."

"Not again, Mom!" Anika shook her head, gasping. "But didn't you agree?" Mom kept a sad face. "When?" Anika asked. 'I have a message from you saying you will do anything I say. Was that also a lie?" Mom cocked her eyebrow. "Noo, I didn't mean like that!" Anika said. "At least take a look." Mom requested. "Fine. But I'm doing this just for you." Anika sighed. "Promise me, if this one's  a disaster, you'll give me some breathing space."

"Done, deal." Mom said. 

His name is Arjun Joshi. He is a 26 and a restaurateur. "Looks good, right?" Mom asked. "I will think about it." Anika said. Mom goes into the kitchen, leaving the I Pad on the table. Once she leaves, Anika gave a quick glance through the profile. It looks good, but does she want to take the chance? She's confused. "Let me look for him on  Facebook. There he is. My God, he's handsome! Yikes! I should be quiet, else mom will her and start pestering me. Let me show it to my friends also! I want to be careful this time." She immediately messaged Risha.

"Risha, let's go to the cafe, need to talk!"

"Can't come. Kinda busy."

"Need to show another boy's profile. Mom is forcing on me."

"Will come over tomorrow. See you!"

After a big sigh, Anika shook her head and messaged Ved. 

"Ved! Meet me at the cafe, please?"

"Is everything okay?"

"Not very sure. Need a suggestion."

"Sure, will be there."

Anika shoved her phone in her jeans pocket and smiled. Then she remembered that Kavya is not at home. She had gone to her interior designing classes. Anika immediately messaged her.

"Kav, where are you? Done with classes?"

"Yep, on the way back. What happened?"

"Stop by the cafe. We are meeting there."

"But what happened?"

"Another marriage proposal!"

"Haha, okay. See you there."

Anika shoved her phone in her jeans pocket and rushed to the cafe. Ved and Kavya already reached there by the time Anika went. They were having a little chat. "Hey, what are you doing here?" Ved asked surprised, seeing Kavya there. "Anika asked me to come here." She shrugged. "She messaged me too." He replied. "I hope everything is fine."

"Yeah. It's just Maasi. Another proposal." Kavya said. "Oh I was wondering!" Ved said. "She should be here any moment." Kavya said, looking at the main door of the cafe. "Thank God I got some time with him." Kavya thought giggling. "So Ved, how was your day?" 

"It was good!" He replied, not even looking at her, but looking at the door, waiting for Anika. "We must go out more often, don't you think so?" She asked. "But there is just so mucb t do abiut admissions and all." He said. "And yet you came here with just one message." Kavya sighed. "Umm... It's Anika, I can't refuse." He shrugged. "And you can refuse me?" Kavya kept a poker face. "It's different with you." Ved said. Meanwhile Anika came.  "Hi guys, sorry to keep you waiting."

"Nah, it's fine. What happened?" Ved asked. "Arjun Joshi happened!" Anika chuckled. "Who is he now?" Ved asked. "Another proposal! Mom!" Anika shrugged, sighing. "So?" Ved asked. "I wanted to show it to you guys, and know your thoughts!" Anika said. Ved and Kavya went through Arjun's profile. "What do you guys think?" Anika asked. "I think he's amazing." Kavya squealed. "And he's darn good looking!" 

"Should I set you up with him?" Anika winked, smirking. "Nah, I'm too young! And I have my eyes set on someone." Kavya grinned. "Who?" Anika wiggled her eyebrows. "It's not about me right now!" Kavya looked at Ved. "What have you thought about him, Anika?" Ved asked. "Everything looks good on the surface! I checked out his online profile, and it looks fine!" Anika said. "Checkout his hobbies- photography and travelling." Kavya said. "Kinda dreamy, and perfect, isn't it?" 

 "Or so we thought earlier also." Anika said. "Come on,  he's too good a prospect!" Kavya said. "He doesn't even have a real job!" Ved said. "He owns a restaurant, what else can one ask for?" Kavya said. "Isn't that kinda shallow?" Ved said. "I don't think so! He's rich, good-looking, and is eager to meet her." Kavya said. "How do you know?" Ved asked. "Maasi already told me. He is really keen on meeting you!" Kavya revealed. "I still think it's too soon." Ved said. "There is no harm in just meeting!" Kavya said. "Kavya might be right! I don't want to refuse straightaway." Anika said. "It's totally your call. I think otherwise." Ved said. "Hmm, let me think about this." Anika said. "I will have to tackle this in a smarter way." 

"Relax, it will be fine. I'm with you." Ved smiled, "Where is Rish?"

"She was caught up at home, hence couldn't come." Anika said. "Anyway, don't think much about it. Let's go home." Ved said. 

Anika continued digging information about Arjun. She wanted to be very well prepared before meeting him. The more she looked at him, the more she got attracted towards him. She realized that she is unable to get him off her mind. Yes, she was drifting towards him, slowly and steadily. 

"What is this about this face that I'm unable to let it out off my head." She mumbled. Mom walked in with a glass of milk for Anika. She saw her sitting on the bed and thinking. She sat beside her. "Are you done with discussion?"

"Huh?" Anika saw mom. "With friends!" Mom chuckled. "After all their opinion matters the most, isn't it?" 

"Nothing like that." Anika snapped. "So will you meet him?" Mom asked. "Yes I think I'd like to meet him once." Anika had a light blush on her face. "Perfect. I'll fix it for tomorrow itself." Mom squealed. "let's figure it in the morning!" Anika said yawning. "And in over-excitement, please don't call anyone right now." 

"Haha, I have that much sense." Mom laughed. "You sleep!" She went away, closing the door and turning off the light.  Anika pulled the blanket and " I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed now! This is too much drama to handle. I hope it goes fine after this." 

Kavya crawled under the blanket, wrapping her hand around Anika's waist. "Lost again?" 

"Nope." Anika shook her head. "I wanted to ask you something." She said. "Tell me." Anika said. "Is there anyone in Ved's life?" Kavya asked. "Not that I know of. Why?" Anika said. "Just wanted to know. Don't go blurt it in front of him now." Kavya said, turning. "Ooh, I see he's caught your fancy." Anika winked. "Stop it yaa! You continue dreaming bout Arjun now!" Kavya winked. "Whatever. Good night!" Anika chuckled.
