CHAPTER ELEVEN
''Being stuck here with you people... Aargh! With you girls... Is... is the most awful thing to happen to me today.'' Rashed said, pacing back and forth the room.
''Speaking of... I have a gum stuck to the bottom of my shoe. Whose room is this anyways?'' Asked Veronica.
''This situation is worse than we believed. I'm sorry guys but I thought that I could get us out but contrarily, I made it wayyyy worse with this hammer.'' Said Uka, staring down at the hammer in her hand.
''Yep. You did make it all worse and why didn't you just leave the hammer alone?'' Asked Zainab in an angry tone.
''Excuse me, but I was trying to save us. I wasn't going to sit here and fold my arms. By the way, who keeps a hammer in his room?'' Asked Uka.
''Girls! Please! Please! These exchange of words going on right now; so stupid, so else anyone has a brilliant idea how we can skibu out of here, please save it!'' Rashed was fed up.
''Hohoho. A brilliant idea you say. The doorknob is broken; you know, the main handle and its all thanks to Uka. What kind of idea do you think we can possibly come up with right now.'' Zainab paused.
''And I don't know whose room this is because I have never been down here before or in this particular room.'' She faced Uka. ''Oh Allah! Nobody can hear us down here. My party is going on without me right now whilst we are here.''Okay okay. I am kind of hungry.'' Confessed Veronica.
''Lord Jesus.'' Uka whispered to herself.
''Are you kidding me! There were lots of food and snacks upstairs, in fact there would still be, so why didn't you eat something before getting yourself in this situation?''
''Zainab, abeg. Like any of us knew this would happen.'' Said Uka.
''Yeah. I could've prepared myself.'' Said Veronica. She was sad.
''Really?'' Rashed questioned Veronica. ''Just shut up.''
It was a hot afternoon on a Saturday. Television street was as busy as an adult female chicken burrowing the ground to lay in and hatch some eggs.
Madam Edoeje's beer parlor was partially full. She ordered her girls around, scolded them when they walked too slow to serve her customers.
She went to the kitchen to check on Sam, the cook. He was the only male employee she had. He only cooked catfish pepper soup and he was best at it.
She took off the lid and steam escaped the pot. The aroma was so good she hid the smile that almost gushed her whole face away from Sam, who nodded his head at her.''Do you need to go to the market to buy more ingredient? Are you sure the pepper would do? Have you checked again?'' She would ask Sam a ton of questions whenever she checked up on his cooking because she knew there would be a packed house once the evening settled that day.
Meanwhile,
Uka and her siblings were still trying to finish up the house chores that was assigned to each of them. They wanted to be done before their mother came back from the market. She had woken them up so early but they were too tired and sleepy so they climbed back to bed.Ngo did nothing as usual. She played tirelessly with her toys and of course she woke up very late. Although, she knew exactly when her mother was up early to prepare for the market.
