The Broken Ones

20 2 3

when the sun begins to rise
and the stars begin to fade.
when the broken ones
turn in their beds
woken by the alarm
not ready to face reality
that's when a new day starts
a day of pretending
where no one talks
about what happened
the night before
when they were in their room
alone and in absolute darkness.

day after day it's the same
they drag themselves out of bed
put on their perfectly fitting mask
and open the door to the outside world
we - humans - all pretend that our lives are perfect
and that makes it even harder for us
the broken ones.
cause even though we know not all is real
we get jealous anyways.
we get jealous of pretty much everything.
when they laugh we get jealous that they can just be happy.
then they eat we get jealous that they can just eat - without hesitation
when they wear tight clothes we get jealous of their confidence
when they wear shorts or tank tops we get jealous of their body.
we get jealous of their perfect life
