Stiles
He'd be lying if he said he wasn't a wreck, but after two weeks, Stiles was slowly getting back to himself again. Calling Derek was his low point. Since that night, he refrained from calling Derek again. He couldn't bring himself to delete Derek's number, but he was taking baby steps. Scott especially had been a big help, but at times he was a little over bearing. Stiles needed support, not someone to watch his every move and spoon feed him. Still, he appreciated it.
Today was exactly two weeks since he left Derek's dorm room in tears. Two weeks since his world turned upside down. It was a Friday afternoon and he was sitting in his room watching Netflix. Scott promised he would come over after his date with Isaac, but that would be a while. Stiles didn't mind the alone time. Although, it did give him more time to think about Derek, which he didn't need.
After a few episodes of a show he was watching, his dad called up the stairs, "Stiles, you've got a visitor!"
He thought it was Scott, maybe done with his date early, or coming to rant about a small fight they had. He was surprised when Danny poked his head through the doorway with a small smile. "Hey, Stiles," he greeted him, walking into the room. "I would've come sooner, but I figured I'd wait a while until everyone was done smothering you."
Stiles grinned, standing up to give him a hug. They used to disagree a lot, mostly because Jackson was an asshole. But then Jackson came out of the closet and cared less about other people's sexuality and Danny started talking to Stiles more. They had quite a bit in common, really. Jackson was nicer too. He'd been by a few times to hang out with Stiles, on nights no one else could be.
"Thanks for coming," Stiles said genuinely, squeezing him tight. They pulled away and sat down on the bed, facing each other. "Before you ask, I'm doing fine."
"Actually, I was gonna ask if it's still appropriate for me to kick his ass, or if we're past that point," Danny retorted. Stiles laughed, shaking his head. "I'm serious, he deserves it," Danny continued with a laugh.
"Danny, he lost me. Do you know how great I am? I think losing me is worse than an ass kicking," Stiles joked. Inside, he really wanted to tell Danny to kick Derek's ass, but he knew it wouldn't do anyone any good.
"You're right, if I were him, I'd be absolutely devastated. You're amazing, Stiles," Danny told him, making his cheeks pink. "So other than the obvious, how are you?" he asked, changing the subject. "You've missed a couple practices."
"Yeah. . ." Stiles muttered, staring at his hands. "I need to get back into the game. I've gained seven pounds in the last two weeks. Breakups aren't good for a person's physical health any more than they are for their emotion health." He really hadn't been doing anything but watching sad movies, listening to depressing music, and eating junk food. He kept telling himself he'd go to practice, but Coach was going easy on him, so he wasn't motivated enough to actually get up and go.
"We've missed you," Danny told him, brushing his hand past Stiles' shoulder. "I know I have. Even Jackson said he missed you at practice, and you know how he is."
Stiles sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Yeah, I've just not been myself, obviously. I want to go back to my life, but Derek fucked me up. The worst part is, I still love him. I desperately need to get over him, you know?" He continued staring at his fingers, shaking his head at how stupid he was. Derek didn't love him. If he did, he never would have cheated. Stiles shouldn't have been so hung up on him.
"Hey, I know how it feels to get stuck on someone who doesn't love you back," Danny admitted, lifting Stiles' chin so he could look at him. "It sucks." They stared at each other for a very long time, just listening to the sound of pounding hearts. "I have a really terrible idea," Danny whispered, leaning in closer.
