  New York, 11:02 pm

"Emma?... Baby please..." Damien says, his voice breaking at the end. He looks for her hands and holds them between his when he finds them. "Please I know you can get through this you're the strongest person I've ever known." His tears start to slide down his cheeks as hope and faith is the only thing flowing around his mind at this precise moment.

The IV monitors beeping start increasing all of a sudden making Damien alarm. He looks around paranoid not knowing what to do. The door to the room slams open and three nurses and the doctor comes rushing inside.

"Sir you need to step back!," one of the nurses starts pushing him out of the room. He's out of words and his heart is beating really fast.

"What's wrong?!... what's going on with her?!" He yells but the nurses just looked at him with pity.

They all managed to push him out of the room. As the door closed he catches a glimpse of what's going in there. The doctor is holding two paddles, as if everything happened in slow motion he placed them in Emma's chest and orders the nurses "Charge the paddles to 200!"

"Charging 200.. Clear!" The nurses yelled back. He sees as her chest raises and goes back slamming to the bed.

The doors close.

He falls on his knees and sobs uncontrollably. He feels a pair of hands on his shoulders and looks up between tears to a worried Sarah looking down at him.

"Tell me she's going to be okay please..." he begs. Sarah was speechless as her eyes water too.

Her mouth open and closes several times but words couldn't come out. She just sat there next to him comforting him. Even if acted the way he did, with everybody else, Sarah knew he was a broken man seeking to put his broken pieces back in place.

"She'll be okay... from what I've heard she's a fighter. She's been in a coma for two years... And I don't think she's going to be giving up just now." Sarah tells him in a low voice.

Damien tries to control the sobbing as a small smile makes way to his lips as memories of Emma run through his mind. He remembered the most amusing moments with her, the times that he made her laugh as well as the times that he made her cry, which sadly turned out to be more. The most appreciated moments for him were the few times they said 'i love you'. Those moments that neither of them saw coming. As he remembered, he did not realize that Sara had helped him sit on one of the chairs in the waiting room. the hospital was empty at the moment. It could be seen coming, since today is Christmas eve.

"I'm sorry you couldn't spend Christmas eve with your family Sarah." Damien says as he looks into space. Sarah eyes widen in surprise. It was odd for Damien to show he cared how she felt about that.

"Sir, I picked this job on my own. I decided to work for you for my own sake and well being. If I didn't know the consequences of having this job then I shouldn't be working with you." She says smiling at him.

"You're so selfless sometimes... It's sad." Damien laughs.

Sarah cheeks flushed but a small laugh leaves her lips."well we choose to be the way we are for a reason don't you think?"

Damien stay quiet but nods his head. "then why are you like this?"

"Well, my mom always said
do good without looking at who, and I think is the most wonderful thing to do."

Damien shakes his head in amusement and chuckles. He tries to wipe away the tears with the sleeve of his suit.

"Here," Sarah hands him a tissue that she just took out of her back.

"Always ready."

"Always sir, that's what I'm here for." She grins.

They stay silent for a couple of minutes as the clock ticked by and the doctor seemed to take longer than ever to come out. Damien lowers his head to his hands and breaths out frustrated.

"Have you ever been in love Sarah?" He asks.

Startled by the question, Sarah's cheeks flushed again.  "Yes... I have,"

"Isn't a wonderful yet painful thing?"

"Depends."

"Well... take me as an example. I've been in love with the woman battling for her life behind those doors since we were little. But certain circumstances separated us in various occasions and in others it united us stronger than ever." He says.

"Happiness Have been snatched away from me many times but when her path and my path were tangled up together..
I felt that happiness was here to stay."

Sarah looks at him with admiration in her eyes. The way she talked about Emma, and the way he painfully waits for her to recovers made her want to believe in love again. After all she was also left broke heart by someone, But that someone wasn't in a coma, that someone  had married another woman for the sake of his family business.

"I understand..." Sarah says as her eyes water a little bit remembering the day, the man she thought she would married and have children with, ended up putting his business before her.

"I want this to be over... I want her to be back into my arms again."

"Faith is all it takes... don't give up on her yet. She will recover Even if we don't know when."

"You're right... thanks Sarah."
He raised his head from his hands and gave a little smile to his secretary.

The door to Emma's room swing open revealing a very sweaty doctor coming out of the room with one nurse behind him. Damien and Sarah immediately stand up and run up to him.

"How is she?" Damien quickly asks. Desperation all over his face.

The doctor and the nurse exchange a look and then turn to Damien with a smile. "She can breathe on her own now."

Damien felt like a weight was lifted up from his shoulders. For the first time in a while he took a breathe of relief."Thank you.. thank you so much." He shakes hands with the doctor and then gives Sarah a quick hug.

"Can I see her?" He asks.

"We should leave her to rest right now she just had a small heart failure that's why the IV monitors went off but as you can see it's a Christmas miracle that she can back to us and now she's breathing on her own. Son, keep your faith up." The doctor pats him on the shoulder and walk past him.

"She's going to be okay... Sarah I know she is now." He smiles through the tears at Sarah.

"Sir..." Sarah calls out and he looks at her. She points to the clock which marked 12 o'clock. "Merry Christmas."

He grins and say "Merry Christmas to you too Sarah."

Sarah smiles and leaves to sit down on the low comfy chairs. Damien looks to Emma's door and says under his breathe.

"Merry Christmas baby."

I know you're coming back to me... He thought.
