It took me 14 days to fall in love
To see god hidden in the eyes of a man
, beauty personified as he lay stretched out upon the whitest of sheets,
Picturesque
A single snapshot.
His head among the cumulus clouds
A perfect breakfast beneath the Eiffel Tower
And nights that never ended, our legs intertwined
Our smiles ever growing
Until today, the day I had to leave
All that was left were these photos
As I looked through each,
I saw an empty bed,
And empty grass,
And roses turned to broken glass
And paradise was suddenly war but not the war I waited for
Each pill should bring me closer to sleep
But temporary is not for keeps
A full stop, period, is yearned for most
These silent wars and deadly ghosts
Leave me unarmed in the battlefields centre
But I can close my eyes and try to remember
The lover that my mind made up
While helplessly waiting for time to stop.
