Chapter one

In only a matter of weeks my whole entire world got turned upside down.

Everything was going great for me. Betty Cooper. I was on the River Vixens, I had a wonderful best friend with raven coloured hair named Veronica Lodge, and let's not forget my handsome ginger haired boyfriend Archie Andrews.

The annual football match was happening on the fated Friday night where all my troubles began. Riverdale High was going against Greendale High, which is just at the next town over.

As I saw Cheryl Blossom, the River Vixens cheer captain and the rest of the cheer squad stretching, getting ready for the game, I saw Archie by the team bench drinking out of his water bottle.

I smile slightly and jog my way towards him. "Hey Arch." I beam brightly when I see him. I have a feeling there's a twinkle in my eyes at the moment.

I just love this boy so much.

"Betty. Hi." He leans over to give me a kiss on the cheek, but he seemed out of it. Like he's been thinking hard.

"Archie, what's wrong?" I question with a crinkle in my eyebrows.

Archie was looking into the distance. Once I repeated his name once more, only then did he start to shift his gaze among me. "I'm sorry, what?" He asks, obviously sounding dazed.

What is up with him? Is it the game? I should ask him. It's better not to assume things.

"Is there something on your mind Arch?" I ask while putting my hand on his shoulder reassuringly.

He shakes his head no. "Of course not Betty. Um... After the game, Reggie's throwing a party. Want to come with me?" He asks with a boyish smile on his face.

I smile. "Yes Archie. I'll meet you there. I have to go on home and check on the twins, Juniper and Dagwood." I give him a slight kiss on the cheek, "I have to head back over there, but I'll see you later, okay?"

Archie gives her a wide smile and goes back to the field to practice.

I smile to myself, content and jog back towards Veronica, where the rest of the River Vixens are. Before she can greet Veronica Cheryl, the fiery redheaded girl with the fire red lipstick is staring down at her with a scowl on her face and one hand on the hip while impatiently tapping her foot.

"What's wrong Cheryl?" I sigh in annoyance.

"Oh Betty. I would enjoy it so very much if you would refrain from flirting with your footballer boyfriend when you should be actually stretching along with everyone else. Okay?" She said with her voice just oozing with sass.

I give out a deep sigh. "Sorry Cheryl, won't happen again."

She gives me a sarcastic smile. "It better not. Now go stretch."

I turn fully around to see the rest of the River Vixens are. I see my best friend, Veronica Lodge bending over to touch her toes. I jog over to her and copy her movements. "Hey V."

She looks in my direction with a smile. "Hey B. What were you talking about with Archie?"

I see a glint in her eyes but I choose to ignore it. I know Veronica had a crush on Archie, and Archie thought Veronica was gorgeous when she first arrived in Riverdale but I trust them. They're my boyfriend and best friend.

"Oh. Archie was just asking me if I wanted to go to Reggie's party after the game." I give her a half smile.

Veronica's eyes brightened. "Oh hey! I'm going to that. I hear it's going to be great." Veronica chuckles afterwards.

I chuckle along with her and continue to stretch.

As I stand up fully and I look into the distance and see my old best friend Jughead Jones. He was sitting on the rusty bleachers typing on his laptop. I see him brush a strand of a wavy black lock from his head and tries to put it under his crown shaped grey beanie.

I miss him.

Ever since I started dating Archie a couple of months ago, me, Archie, and Veronica all started to drift apart from Jughead. It was sad.

Me and Archie have been dating for a week now. But it also means Jughead and I haven't been talking for a week now.

As I grab my books out of my locker I see a wave of wind go by me. I turn around and see that Jughead was passing me

This could be my time to finally talk to Jughead about why he is avoiding me.

"Jug!" I shriek, trying to catch his attention.

He looks behind him and sees me. His eyes widen and he tries to speed away from me but I catch his arm before he manages to get further away.

"Jug. Stop." I said with an even voice.

"Hey Betty. What's up?" He said with a shaken voice.

"What's up? What's up is my best friend is ignoring me. Why?" I said with a hurt tone.

I think he heard it in my voice and his voice softened. "Betts, I'm sorry/ But we can't be friends anymore."

"What? Why?" I say confused.

"I've never really noticed before but you really annoy me. I don't want to associate myself with you." He said with finality in his voice and a hard look in  his eyes and face.

I take in a deep breath willing myself for my voice not to come out shaky.

"Okay Juggie."

I failed.

Before he sees me cry, I turn sharply around and speed out of school.

It sucks because I used to have a crush on that not so lovable boy.

"Betty!" A familiar voice sounds.

"huh?" I snap out of my thoughts and look into confused but concerned brown eyes.

"Are you okay Betty?" Veronica asks.

"Yeah. Let's do this." I reply.
