Poem written earlier this year

The clouds; grey and rain falls from the sky,

As I turn back for a while to watch you wave goodbye.

My mine constantly running over the scenes of its end,

And I'll walk through the gate I'll never walk back through again.

The rain soaks my skin and hair, water floods my ears,

Making it so much more difficult to listen for the words I long to hear.

A mixture of rain and tears; mascara runs down my face,

Had I not always been so difficult - so easy to replace.

My heart knocks against my chest, how it dies to be let out,

But I'll just ignore it for a little longer somehow.

Tears close through my throat, drumming accelerates in the ears,

You still haven't called out the words that I so desperately want to hear.

Maybe if I had been better it could have changed out fate,

Maybe if I had gone back earlier, now it seems too late.

Momentarily the sun shines as I get to the cross roads,

Because I have changed my mind, And I should have never let you go.
