Life was just an endless series of regrets with only brief moments of happiness. That was one fact that Keith had come to grip with during his time with the Blade of Marmora. An endless cycle was what his life had become. He no longer knew what day or time it was (not like it was any better back on the Castle but they did have a fairly Earth-like light system). He was completely clueless as to what part of the galaxy he was in or whether he was near any other life at all (he never really counted Zarkon and his minions as actual life). Everyday was the same. Train, missions, heal, train and (for him) get scolded by Kolivan. At first he liked being with the Marmora. He could actually train without anyone coming in or annoying him (mainly Lance) or get side-tracked into fighting someone due to their teasing (once again Lance). The Marmora he trained with were highly skilled and harder to fight with than anyone he ever knew (including Shiro). But it easily became tiring. Day after day he was wiped out, knocked down and as Lance would say "absolutely wrecked". He was treated like a child despite being eighteen and many of the Marmora didn't like him due to him being either "too human" or "half Galra". He never thought he'd ever say this, but he missed being at the Castle of Lions.
If Keith was asked to pinpoint when life started to flip, he could tell you straight away it was when Shiro and the Holts disappeared during the Kerberos Mission. They completely vanished. Went off the radar. It was during that time that he started to loose concentration at the Garrison. He had already been kicked out of the Garrison once and he knew it was only a matter of time before it happened again. Both himself and Shiro knew it. Without Shiro with him, there was no reason for Keith to be given another chance. He knew the Garrison were trying to cover something up by how they kept acting shady whenever Keith asked about Kerberos. He became certain that something had gone drastically wrong. But no matter how many times Iverson tried to tell him that the Kerberos team died, Keith never listened. He knew that they were still alive. He could feel it. Just like he could feel that he wasn't completely human or how he knew his father was dead before being told. He had become obsessed with finding the truth. He had already lost his mother and his father, Shiro was the closest thing to family he had and no matter how isolated he was from the rest of society, he could not loose Shiro as well. A year after the Kerberos mission and many fits of anger, Keith dropped out of the Garrison.
The two years that Keith spent in that lonely shack were the hardest of his life. He was once again alone. Once or twice a week he would sneak into the Garrison kitchens and take some food to keep him going. He had only bumped into one person during those two years but they both decided not to say a thing. His obsession with Kerberos quickly changed into an obsession over the feeling he kept getting while in the shack. He could only describe it as a sort of longing. What sort of longing he had no idea but he had to find the source. That was when he found the cave filled with the strange markings. Hence the start of his Conspiracy Board (as it would be dubbed by Pidge).
On the day that Shiro returned, Keith had been fidgety. He couldn't stop moving. Anxiety was through the roof. He knew from the markings he found in the desert that something big was coming. An event that would change the course of history. He'd spent the last week preparing for his Distraction. He managed to stock up on some explosives which he placed around the desert so that he could easily deal with whatever was going to happen and leave. The day was spent in a constant state of worry. Not sure on what was going to happen or when. How it was going to happen or why. He waited (impatiently) until he felt that something was going to happen. Keith stood outside the shack, watching as the sky dissolved into pastel oranges and purples. He tingled with anticipation. Eyes searching constantly for something out of place, out of the ordinary. He was ready to give up when he noticed something in the sky. At first he thought it was a Garrison aircraft returning but the colours were off. That was when it hit him. He set off the explosions before rushing over to where the U.F.O would land on his hover bike. His mind was blank as he saw the space ship. His first instinct was to run inside, find out what was going on. He battled many Garrison officials as he tried to go in. He nearly cried when he saw who was lying on the stretcher inside. Shiro. This was what the markings were warning. Shiro's return to Earth.
