The sweeping mountains framed the shining black water reflecting the moonlight. I could see the craters indented on the super moon, inches away from my face. As his hand rubbed up and down my back, a shutter filled the air as my picture was forever saved on the camera. "The sky is beautiful tonight." I lustfully sigh, admiring the blues and purples mixing together with a sea of stars sailing through.

"Not as beautiful as you are, my darling." Sam whispers into my ear, causing butterflies to rumble about in the pit of my stomach. Picking up a sandwich, I take a bite. The chewing hurt my jaw but it was well worth the pain to have a picnic on the peak of oasis. I had always dreamed about this place since we were kids and had asked Sam to promise me one day we would get married up here, although I guess being 16 wouldn't get me far in the matrimony department. "Close your eyes, Harmony. I have a surprise for you."

Hovering my hands over my face, I felt him slip something around my neck. I asked to open my eyes and was astounded by my gift. Admiring the beautiful crystal pendant hanging from my neck in the form of an hourglass. It meant the world to me, the same exact one from my dream last night. "Sam, this is so beautiful. I can't-"

"Think of it as a betrothal. My one last gift to you before you leave." His eyes were filled with sadness as tears trailed down to his pink, full lips. Standing up, he hoists me into his arms and carries me to the lookout point. I could see everything from up here, the town, Mr. Putters farm and even my house. I longed to go back home and sleep in my own bed.

"This is the best night of my life." A small smile plays on my face as the last few years pass through my head. All the fluids, tests, needles and transfusions couldn't bury the beautiful night I was experiencing.

Placing a gentle kiss on my forehead, Sam brings me back to our picnic area. "I think it's time we got back to the hospital." Packing up the leftover food, he wipes a tear from his eye. I feel my body start to lose energy as I slowly lean to lie down on the blanket. As I fight to keep my eyes open, Sam rushes to my side. He's yelling my name but it sounds further and further as every second passes by.

"I'll always be with you, Sam." My voice faintly comes out. He grips my hand tight as all life starts to leave me.

"I love you, Harmony." He kisses me on the lips, my first ever kiss. The cancer hadn't taken every experience from me.

As my eyes fall for the last time, I try to mouth back, "I love you too."
