I walk into the huge office of Professor Washington and sigh.
'What did Alex do this time?' I think. I look at the bald man and he smiles lightly.
"Hello Mr. and Ms.Hamilton. I haven't spoken to either of you in a while. I'm just sorry it has to be under these circumstances." He says, looking down at some of his papers. I knit my eyebrows together.
"What do you mean, sir?" I ask. He frowns.
"Do you know your cousin Adam has...committed suicide. I'm very sorry for your loss." He says, causing my heart to drop. I look at Alex, him having the same facial expression as me.
Alex of all people knew how close Adam and I where. We might as well have been siblings. I told him things I didn't even tell Alex.
"I-I have a lot of homework, so if you'll excuse me, I need to go." I lie. I turn around and walk out of the building.
^^^^|John's POV|^^^^
I walk down the long flights of stairs and sigh.
'Why does the elevator in Laf's building have to broken today?' I think.
As I reach the last few steps I suddenly hear someone crying. They're also whispering to themselves. What? I can't tell.
I furrow my eyebrows and peek around the corner. It IS a girl. Wait. It's (Y/n). Why is she crying?
"(Y/n)? What's wrong?" I say, rushing over to her. She doesn't put her head up from her knees.
"H-He's gone. He's gone. He's gone." She mumbles. I rub her back in a circular motion.
"Who's gone, (Y/n)? Alex?" I ask. She looks up at me, slightly.
"Adam. Adam is gone. He killed himself." She says, laying her head back down on her knees. I frown.
She used to tell me all about him. Her only cousin. The only other family she had left, besides Alex. She had a strong connection with him, as Alex put it.
"Well...there's nothing I can do about that. But. What I can do is invite over to my place to watch some movies and talk. Sound good to you?" I ask, smiling a little. She looks up at me and nods. I put my hand out for her and she takes it.
She wraps her arms around mine (it being considerably larger than her's) and I flush red.
'Stop it! She's just grieving. It's nothing more then that.' I think, mentally slapping myself.
I lead her to my car and and set her into the passenger's side. I climb in the driver's seat and start up the car.
^^^^|Time Skip to John's House|^^^^
I open the door for her and she shuffles in, placing herself on the couch.
I walk to the kitchen and grab two glasses and a 2 liter of 'Coke a Cola'. I walk back to the couch and set the stuff of the coffee table. I walk to my bedroom and grab a big blanket for us.
I go back to living room and wrap us in the blanket. I grab the remote and turn on a movie. The movie I chose is 'Sleepless in Seattle'.
"Good choice." She mumbles. I glance at her and smile. She looks back and gives a weak smile, the tears still evident on her face.
"It's one of my favorites." I say, opening the 2 liter and pouring us both a cup. I hand her the glass and she takes a sip.
"Mine too. Although, 'Safe Haven' is much better." She says in a quiet voice.
"True. True." I say, nodding. I sit back and so does she. She leans against me and yawns.
'She must be tired. Probably had an eventful day.' I think. I look down at her to see her sleeping, peacefully. I smile to myself.
I pick her up and take her to my room. It being late, I lay her in my bed to sleep, covering her with my blanket.
I walk myself back to the living room and lay on the couch, continuing to watch my movie.
^^^^|Time skip|^^^^
About halfway through my movie, I hear a knock on my door. I pause the movie and stand up to answer it. I open the door and am shocked to see a worried Eliza.
"Eliza? Are you okay? What's wrong?" I ask, beckoning her inside. She walks in and stands next to the couch.
"Have you seen the twins? I haven't been able to find them. I last saw (Y/n) yesterday. She always calls me if something happens." She says, pacing.
"I've seen (Y/n)." I say, smirking.
"Really? Where?" She asks, excitedly.
"My room." I say, picking up the coffee table. She smirks.
"What's she doing there?" She asks. I glare at her.
"Sleeping. Her cousin killed himself today and I found her at Lafayette's apartment complex, so I brought her over here." I say, pouring us both a cup of Coke.
"That's so sweet of you, John." She says, gladly. She takes the cup and sips it.
"It's just me being a friend. I know she would do the same for me." I say, bringing the cup to my lips.
"Well, She would do it for anyone, really. Thomas Jefferson, especially." She says. I choke on my pop and look at her with a confused face.
"What do you mean by that?" I ask, setting my cup down.
"Well." She pauses. "She just seems very fond of Thomas and, Thomas of her. I might even say that Thomas likes her as more than a friend." She says, shrugging.
"Well, there's nothing wrong with that." I say. She shrugs again.
I hear footsteps from the hallway and see (Y/n) coming into the living room, blanket wrapped around her frail body. When she sees Eliza, she drops the blanket and jumps on her, hugging her tightly.
"Oh my god, (Y/n). I've missed you." Eliza says, hugging her back.
"I'm sorry I didn't call you or talk to you sooner! I didn't mean to worry you." She says, pulling away and looking at her. I clear my throat and she looks at me and smiles.
'My god, is her smile heavenly...'
