What he responded was something I would soon find out to be true alongside millions of others in time to come,
"why honey I don't sound like nobody"

After Elvis said that I just sat there letting my thoughts take over, I sure want to hear what nobody sounds like.
My thoughts were interrupted by Elvis asking me "what grade are you in Sandy?" "Sophomore" I respond.
"Oh so you're about 16?" "Er no I'm 15, I'll be 16 in August what about you?" "I'm a senior, turning 18 in January"I gave a little gasp inside here was this gorgeous older guy, a senior! Talking to me and allowing me sit with him. It just made me even more nervous about being in his presence.
If Elvis noticed my nerves he didn't mention anything just continued asking questions."So, where are you from? I've never heard an accent like yours, I like it a real lot" this simple compliment caused me to blush while answering back "Australia" his eyebrows shot up obviously not expecting a different country as my answer, not for long though as his lopsided smirk returned, making me slightly worried of his thoughts.
"And are all Australian girls are pretty as you?" He asked and the blush that I had just previously rid came back full forced. I looked down in hopes he wouldn't notice "Umm, err I don't know?" I reply rather unsure.
Looking back up I notice his smirk was gone replaced by a genuine smile "you know I doubt it, you're the prettiest little thing I've seen, especially when you do that blushing" and if my face wasn't red as a tomato before it is now."So is it real different here compared to your home?" Elvis asked me.
"Well to be honest I'm not sure, I've only been here a few days now. But not having my parents here with me is an overwhelming change" I responded. "What do you mean? Where are your parents?" He asked with a frown. I couldn't help but admire his face once again, no matter what emotion crossed this mans face he looked lovely.
"Err well it's a bit of a long story and I don't know all the details but they're back in Australia still, I'm living with my uncle and aunt"
"Geez that must be tough, I can't imagine what I'd do if I had to live without me mama and daddy and I'm older than you" he sympathises. "Yeah I guess it'll be tough, but I'm sure it won't be long til I can go home" I spoke.
At this Elvis's face dropped into a look of disappointment and I know before I said any emotion looked lovely on him I couldn't help but hope this emotion didn't occur often, he looked real blue and it saddened my heart."You know I'm glad I wound up here though, Memphis seems real swell, I'm unsure how strict my aunt and uncle will be but I hope they allow me to see the city" with this Elvis's brightened up. "Oh you'll love it here, I do. There's so much to do and things to see. You know if ya would want I could show you around some one day, I'd borrow the truck and we could drive around listening to the radio" he raved with a gorgeous smile.
After seeing his disappointed look earlier to his now lit up smile and eyes I couldn't find myself saying anything but yes.
"That would be great! I'll have to ask my uncle first though" "no problem honey, if he says no let me ask him, I'll work my charm" he responded.
"And what charm would that be Mr Presley" I asked with my own smirk. With his look matching my own he responded whilst leaning in the slightest "Well darlin you'll just have to wait and experience it yourself". His words caused my face to drop and eyes to widen with worry and butterflies swarming my belly at the meaning of Elvis' words. At that moment the bell rang signifying the end of lunch. It was fair to say when we looked at each other disappointment was evident on both our faces.
Elvis made the first move, standing up with a sigh and picking up his guitar he said "I'll be seeing you Sandy Harris" and with that he turned and left leaving me sitting there in awe of his presence and then missing it.The sound of the second warning bell shot me out of my stupor, I was sure to be late to class now. Jumping up I made my way to my locker and then class.
The rest of the day flew by, mainly because every spare moment I had was spent thinking of Elvis. Elvis Presley. As I was making my outside with Lily and towards Laurie to go home I couldn't help but look around in hopes to catch a glimpse of Elvis but no such luck. Lily having noticed my behaviour jumped to action "who is he?" she questioned. Wow this girl was good. "Umm I don't know what you're talking about" I responded, earning a narrowing of the eyes from Lily "okay okay you've now learnt two things about me, one I can't lie to save my life, two I met a guy at lunch today" I was rewarded with a squeal. I just rolled my eyes before saying goodbye and hoping into Laurie's car.
It was quiet at first so I looked at my uncle to find him looking back at me "so, how was it? Did you enjoy your classes? Did you make some friends? Fill me in". I couldn't help but laugh at his excited face. The way home was filled with chatter about how much I enjoyed my day, I however did not mention to him it was because of a certain boy.
That night as I lay in bed I realised there was something about Elvis that drew me to him and I was not going to do a thing to stop it.
