(A/N I change quite a few details in the last chapter. It kind of sucks but from here in out I'm going to try and be better. Forgive me 😂.)

Luke has dealt with many things in his life. Many incredibly surprising things, but what he wasn't ready for was the shrieking girl standing at his front door.

"OH MY GOD I CANT BELIEVE WE'RE NEIGHBORS!"

"Yep." Luke tried his best not to shut the door and walk away. No matter how tempting it was.

"Man of many words I see." She said once she began to calm herself.

"Only to avoid small talk." He struggled walking away from the door, silently inviting the young girl in.

"Nice place. Where are your parents?" She asked not meaning much harm. How could she know Luke was an orphan?

"If you ever find out let me know." He sighed while grabbing her a glass of water and sitting on the opposite side of the couch from her.

"What do you mean?" Kinzly was very curious about Luke. She didn't know why exactly, but she wanted to know more about him. She felt as if no amount of questions could ever be enough.

"I grew up in foster care for quite awhile. That's all you need to know." He replied with no emotion behind his voice but with more emotion than any one person should ever feel in his eyes.

"Alrighty, your turn. Ask me some questions."

"Why are you here? I mean in my house." He asked in a very blunt manner. He wasn't trying to be rude. Just trying to get some answers.

"My dad. He said there was a new neighbor and to be polite I should greet them." She smiled kindly.

"So he sends his teenage daughter to meet a complete stranger? Smart." He rolls his eyes.

"Hey!? You don't know him!" She was becoming defensive. Her dad was the only stable family she had. How was Luke supposed to know that?

"I could've been anybody. All I'm saying is he could've been sending you over to a kidnapper or some shit and the you'd be gone forever." He argued back.

"You don't look like a kidnapper or some shit." She huffed.

"Hey you never know though."

"Just shut up before I- I punch you in the face!" She stomped her foot like a child throwing a tantrum.

"You're 5'4, you can't even reach my face little one." He laughed patting her head. "OUCH!"

"Don't call me little." She stick her tongue out at him.

"First of all you are little, second of all you didn't have to punch my arm . What are you a pro boxer!?" Luke said dramatically rubbing his arm.

"You deserve it, and I'm not little! I'm probably older than you." She rolled her eyes.

"Doubt it sweet cheeks."

"I'll be 17 in 2 months." She stated proudly.

"I turned 17 yesterday. I win!" He smirked laying on his couch placing his feet towards Kinzly.

"Now I have to get you something. I'll bring it over later tonight." She smiled her obnoxiously bright smile.

"Why would you have to get me something?" Luke was very confused. Last time he got a birthday present was when his buddy Michael from the system bought him his first cigarette. That was 3 years ago.

"Because we're friends now duh." She stated mater of factly.

"Oh no. I don't do friends. Nuh uh." He shook his head furiously.

"Too bad. I'm your new best friend. Get used to seeing my gorgeous face around here." She stated clearly amused by his reaction. His eyes went huge and he looked like he just made a deal with the devil.

"Nope, friends are too much responsibility. Too many secrets that can get told. Too much reliance." He shrugged.

"Ehh should've thought about that before making fun of me. We are basically bonded for life now." She smiled playfully. "I'll be back around 8 don't be a dick. Answer your door or I'll let myself in!" She laughed before exiting his apartment door leaving him to sit and wonder what just happened.

Kinzly didn't know why Luke was so intriguing, but when she was around him she felt confident. She felt stupid even thinking that way, he was practically a stranger. She just knew she wanted to get closer to him.

————8pm————

Kinzly stood at his door nervously looking at the bag of stuff she got for him before deciding to knock. It didn't take long for Luke to open the door. He'd never admit it out loud but he was actually quite giddy to get a gift.

"Did ya miss me?" She smirked pushing past him into the apartment and jumped onto his couch. He didn't say no he just rolled his eyes. "Are you just going to stand there or are you going to appreciate the things I got you!"

"I'm coming." He sighed dramatically sitting next to her. When he opened the bag she just smiled in anticipation. The first thing he pulled out was a picture frame. Inside was a canvas that had stars on it and a quote: 'I've loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night'. The second thing was star lights to decorate his ceiling. Finally he pulled out a ticket. It was for a Green Day concert. "HOW DID YOU GET THIS IN 2 HOURS!?"

"I've actually had it for like 2 months. I got it to take me and my boyfriend but, we broke up a few weeks ago so, you wanna go?" She giggled.

"Hell yeah I wanna go, but I can't take this. It's too much." He sighed dramatically still looking at the ticket.

"I want you to go. I need someone to annoy me don't I?" She laughed, rolling her eyes.

"Only if you're sure." Luke added.

"Of course." She really didn't want to travel 3 hours and stay in a hotel alone for 5 days and so far Luke seemed like good company.

"How did you know I would like this so much?" He asked motioning to the picture frame.

"Well, we met under the stars, you have a night sky tat, and one of the first things you said to me was about stars. So I went with it." She giggled admiring his tattoo.

"Am I that obvious?" He laughed nervously as a joke. Sort of.

"Yep" She popped the 'p'.

"You know, you're crazy. We met in the middle of the night in a park last night and today you're acting like we've known each other for years." Luke laughed at how much optimistic about society she was.

"Well, you didn't seem like a murderer. You're 17 and are obsessed with stars. What'll you do? Nag me to death?" She laugh and sprawled out on the couch when he got up to hang the photo she had got him. "Plus it feels like we have known each other for years."

"All I'm going to say is I'm usually not this open with people I don't know. You're special." He smiled the most genuine she has seen him smile since meeting him the previous day. Kinzly knew she wasn't smart for feeling so trust worthy of a stranger, she just hoped it wouldn't back fire.

I'm sorry if this is slowly progressing but I'm trying to make it good. Also the reason it took so long to update is because I'm lazy. Not gonna lie. I have so many ideas for the upcoming chapters so as always. Read. Comment. Vote. Enjoy.😘
