Chapter 2
I glanced at the clock. Goodness why were Mondays so long? I sunk into my seat and zoned out the rest of my teacher’s lecture.
*RIIINNGG*
I jumped out of my seat and rushed out of the door before my teacher could finish and assign homework. I made my way to my next class and took my seat. I took out my makeup deciding I needed to touch it up.
“You really don’t need that. It takes away from your natural beauty,” he said. I froze, I averted my eyes to him to make sure he was talking to my. I slowly put my lip-gloss away and looked and him dumbfounded, I opened my mouth to say something but not a sound came out. I realized what an idiot I looked like so I quickly shut my mouth. What DO I say to Alex? Sure I’d been around him previous years but he’d never even said a word to me. I took in his appearance, he was hot but in a way that he didn’t know it.
“Like anything you see?” he asked smirking. I silently cursed underneath my breath for letting my eyes linger a little too long.
“I’m Alex.” He offered after I didn’t say anything. Oh gosh I haven’t said not one word this entire time. Shoot I must look like I have issues or something. What had he said? Oh his name was Alex. Right.
“I know.” I replied after gathering myself.
“You do?” He questioned raising an eyebrow.
“Mhm. We’ve been going to school together for a while now.“Not that I expected him to remember, he hadn’t ever actually noted my existence.
“Oh, well I’m sorry for barely taking notice,” he said as if he read my thoughts.
“its fine,” I mumbled lost in my thoughts. Was he actually talking to me?
“Can I have your name?” He asked softly almost in an embarrassed way.
“Mikayla,” I whispered.
“Mikayla? That’s very pretty.” He breathed smiling to himself. Wait! He was smiling? I’d hardly ever seen him smile. It was enough to make my heartbeat increase.
“Mikayla, will you join me for lunch? I’d really like to get to know you,” Alex suggested in a voice I couldn’t read. Was this really happening? I calmed myself before answering.
“Yes” I said simply. He looked away satisfied and I smiled to myself.
I was anxious for class to end because I wanted to talk to Alex about the plans. Mikayla its only lunch, Calm down! He’s just like any other boy.
*RIINNNGG*
I looked up at Alex ready to question him further but I was surprised to find that he was already shuffling out the door. I packed my stuff up and practically skipped to my locker. I dumped my books in there and turned to go before I was knocked down by something hard.
“Ow,” I whinnied.
“Mikayla, at least buy me dinner before you get handsy!”Nate chuckled.
“Sorry Nate I just can’t help myself,” I joked back. Nate is just a friend, but he has the hots for me. I feel bad because when I need a casual flirt I go to him even though I have no feelings for him.
“Actually I was wondering if I can buy you lunch?” he asked while trying to hide the smirk on his face, probably from our encounter.
“Um actually Nate, I have plans with Alex,” I admitted. He looked taken back by surprise.
“Alex Ramirez?” He questioned
“Yes that one,” I giggled. He looked stunned and I had to shake him a little.
“Naatteee,” I sang.
“Yeah? Just be careful, he’s not the best boy to be involved with,” He stated with worry written all over his face. With that he left, I didn’t know what to think of that and I didn’t want to overthink it so I pushed the thought aside and headed to the lunchroom, picturing the different ways that this could go.
