"Ugh, I can't believe that my parents are encouraging the school to go on a field trip to the Ghost Zone! They've never even been there themselves!" Danny exclaimed to his friends.
The odd group of three were on there way to the gymnasium to witness the raffle that determined which poor souls would be dragged into the Ghost Zone with Danny's parents for an entire weekend. All Danny knew was that nothing good was going to come out of this trip.
Maybe my parents will get scared about going into the Ghost Zone finally... Ah who am I kidding, dad would probably dive in head first without anything if it weren't for my level-headed mother, Danny thought.
"Danny, I know that look. I'm just as worried as you are but you gotta have a little faith in your parents. I mean, when was the last time something bad ever happ..." Sam trailed off. "You know never mind. I guess all we can do now is hope for a miracle," she said unenthusiastically.
"Yeah man, I mean, so what if we get picked and have to go into the Ghost Zone with your parents?" Tucker stated.
"So what? More like 'How long will Danny last in a realm full of ghosts who all hate his guts?' Or 'Will Danny be able to keep his secret intact from not only his parents but other kids in his class whilst also trying to pretend he's normal?' Yeah, Tuck. So what?" Danny stated in an exasperated huff.
"Welp! At least no matter what! We will always be there for you! Quite literally though. We all have the same exact classes." Tuck said, slapping Danny on the shoulder.
"Ya know that is kinda odd now that I think about it..." Sam questioned, but the three just shrugged it off and finally made their way into the gymnasium bleachers.
Sitting down in the far back corner, hopefully out of complete sight from his parents, Danny tried not to think about what was about to happen.
"Good morning Casper High and welcome to the moment you've all been waiting for!" Mr. Lancer announced far too enthusiastically for the groggy teenagers in the stands to care.
"This raffle will determine which class will be chosen to go on the once and a life time field trip to the 'Ghost Zone' with two very, uhh..." Mr. Lancer paused, looking at the Fentons as Jack was picking his nose and Maddie was waving to their daughter in the stands. "Very highly trained... ghost hunting professionals that will teach you about self-defense and everything you need to know about the Ghost Zone." Lancer concluded.
Maddie stepped up the mic to say a few words to the uninterested teens before the raffle.
"Students of Casper High, I am very excited to find out which group of students will be joining me and my husband on this exquisite trip!" Maddie looked out into the stands and finally caught sight of Danny in the corner. "Hi sweetie!" She exclaimed in a gushy, mom voice. Danny just wanted to sink into a deep hole and stay there for a while."Anyway, my husband will be drawing the card with the class that gets to have the honor of joining us this weekend!" Maddie stated excitedly.
Jack was shaken out of his trance whilst he was 'digging for gold' and walked over to the large bowl that had all the small pieces of paper in them. Using the same hand he was just using to 'pick his own winner', he reached in to pick the new winner. His hand shuffled around for a few seconds before he accidentally pulled out three cards instead of one. Then, being the highly intelligent scientist that he was, he picked the class by using a very skilled technique that only masterminds can do. Aka, eenee meenee minee moe.
"The winners is..." Jack turned to his wife. "Maddie, this one is blank." He said in a hushed, concerned tone. She opened the card for him. "Aha! The winner is... Mr. Lancer's 1st period English class!" Jack shouted into the mic making it ring through the gymnasium.
Danny's whole world suddenly crashed around him.Oh no... he thought. Why... Of all of the classes I take, why did it have to be that one.
"Aw man! So I gotta go on some lousy field trip with Fenturd and his parents?!" Dash stood up saying.
"Wait, they can't make us go, we have a football game on Friday night!" Kwan desperately tried to argue.
"Lucky for all of you, since this is a school issued field trip, you are obligated to go as the guinea pig class so we can bring others later in the future! And all sports and other activities are excused so you have no reason to not be able to go! Isn't that fantastic!" Maddie said into the mic.
That hole Danny wanted to sink into earlier just got a heck of a lot deeper upon the realization that he was going to have to spend an entire weekend in the Ghost Zone with all the A-Listers, Mr. Lancer, and his parents.
"This is officially going to be the worst... weekend... ever..." Danny said.
AN: Hey guys! So I know this is short but that's kinda how I like my chapters. This is pretty much how long all the rest are gonna be and I also want to apologize if anything sounds weird or off cuz I have been sick in bed for the past three days with the flu and strep throat and haven't eaten anything since Thursday (it's currently Sunday for me). Anyway, I hope you at least enjoyed the short intro to what this story is about!!
