When Friday finally rolled around, Danny didn't want to get out of bed. Sure every morning he didn't wanna get up, but today was different. Today he left to go on a field trip with his 'esteemed peers' into the Ghost Zone; his parents guiding them. Just all the thoughts of what could go wrong echoed throughout his thoughts.
What if we have a run in with Skulker or someone? I won't be able to go ghost easily enough because my crazy parents will be watching us like hawks. Gosh I can only hope that nothing goes wrong and it's just the most boring... green weekend ever.
Danny was pulled out of his own thoughts when he heard a knock on the door. He grunted in acknowledgement that whoever it was could come in.
"Hey Danny," Jazz said as she opened the door and came to sit on the edge of the bed.
"What do you want, Jazz?" Danny asked annoyed as he put his pillow over his head.
"I just wanted to come and see how you were doing. No need to be so harsh," she stated.
"Sorry," Danny mumbled. "I'm just really nervous about this whole Ghost Zone field trip. There's just so many things that could go wrong and I don't know how to handle any of this. I mean, what if something happens and I have to go ghost? It's hard enough to do it at home and school let alone the Ghost Zone surrounded by my idiotic classmates and crazy ghost-hunting parents who want to tear me, I mean Danny Phantom apart molecule by molecule."
"Don't worry, Danny. I know you're strong and you always know what to do in situations like that. I'm sure everything will be fine. And remember, if you ever need anything, you can always ask. Also, you have Sam and Tucker with you luckily who've got you covered," his sister consoled.
"Thanks Jazz... Actually, ca-"
Danny was cut off by the sound of their mothers voice calling them downstairs for breakfast.
"What were you going to say, Danny?" Jazz questioned.
"Ah it's nothing. We better get downstairs though and eat before my class starts showing up. They're supposed to arrive in 15 minutes," Danny said.
"Okay, little bro, I'll meet you downstairs." With that, Jazz left the room and left Danny alone to get ready.
Danny made sure to pack a few last-minute essentials for his trip. This including the spector deflector, wrist rays, Fenton thermos, and some extra pairs of clean tidy whities.
He then put on some fresh clothes, closed his bag, slung it over his shoulder, and made his way to the kitchen for some Jack Fenton Toast and eggs.
"Good morning sweetie," his mother chimed as he walked into the kitchen. "Are you excited for the big weekend we have ahead of us?"
Danny cringed at how she made it out to sound like this was going to be almost as enjoyable as a vacation to the Bahamas or something.
"Totally mom... can't wait," Danny stated, his tone soaked with fake joy.
"That's the spirit, son!" Jack said giving Danny a big old slap on the back causing him to drop the toast he was about to eat onto the floor.
If my parents keep acting like this, then my weekend is gonna be even more hellish than before, Danny thought.
He got up to go make himself some more toast when he heard the doorbell ring.
"I got it!!" Jack yelled as he bounded for the front door. He opened it to find Mr. Lancer on the other side.
"Well come on in, Mr. Lancer! Make yourself at home! But don't touch anything... It might set off the defense weapons," Jack stated in a more serious tone.
"How... uh, lovely" Lancer replied giving a fake smile.
As Mr. Lancer waited in the living room, Danny stayed in the kitchen trying to avoid any awkward conversation with his teacher. Then, however, people finally started showing up. Sam was first to arrive, then Tucker, then, one by one, Danny's fellow classmates trickled into his living room and awaited what was to come of the day. It seemed as though none of them wanted to be there at all and Danny related.
"So are you guys prepared for this? I mean, we already have to whole Ghost Zone mapped out so we at least know where we are going, unlike my parents, but that doesn't stop any of the possible ghost attacks," Danny said to his two friends.
"Relax, dude. Everything is gonna be fine, and if not, we've got you covered so you can do whatever you need whether that be hiding from your parents to go ghost or just hiding from Dash," Tucker said.
"Yeah, Danny. No matter what happens, I'm.. I mean we are here for you," Sam said, blushing slightly.
"Thanks guys," Danny said, a small hint of pink adorning his cheeks.
"Alright, is everyone here? Good! Now we can make our way down to the Fenton lab to get ready for our departure," Maddie stated over the bustling group of tired teens.
Jack ushered the group down the stairs in a way that resembled herding cattle giving a whistle and a little shove here and there to the particularly slow ones. Once they all reached the lab, everyone began loading their bags into the Spector Speeder. As soon as that was over, people began loading themselves into the Spector Speeder. It was a bit cramped considering it was a vehicle meant for maybe 10 and not 25.
When everyone was situated, the Speeder roared to life. Jazz then had the honor of opening the portal and waving goodbye.
"Bonsai!!" Jack yelled pushing the Speeder into full throttle, launching the group into the Ghost Zone.
AN: just a quick little note, yes I'm still sick and could not fall asleep cuz it feels like I'm swallowing razor blades every time I drink or eat something or even just swallowing my own saliva (which I know is gross but it's the truth). Anyways, strep throat sucks ass and I hope you enjoyed this other short chapter. I know it's kinda a filler but meh.
