Monroes pov
"Take a good look. We keep that current of electricity coursing through him because otherwise he'd rip through his bindings. Because otherwise he'd break free and kill us." I said to the towns people that had gathered to witness the wolf, Ethan, and fight with us against his kind.
"The people who came before us used arrows and crossbows to fight them. This is all they had to protect themselves, a sliver of wood. While he has claws that can cut into bone, and fangs to tear us apart. He's stronger, faster, and his ability to heal can only be described as extraordinary." I said as Ethan panted.
"You, what's your name?" I asked ponting to a girl in the crowd.
"Sydney" She answered.
"You've seen them up close. Don't be shy."
"There was a lacrosse game. We got trapped in the library."
"And what did you do?"
"Nothing. All we could do was hide."
"That's okay, Sydney, I did the same thing. Until I got tired of hiding, tired of being afraid. And I decided it's their turn to be afraid." I yelled stabbing Ethan with an arrow.
"It's their turn! Their turn to hide. Their turn to be alone. Their turn to run. Their turn to be hunted. I was alone when I killed that Hellhound. A creature they said couldn't be killed. You know who else was alone? Nolan, come here. You wanna know what Nolan did? On his own, late at night, he risked his life to try to take out Scott McCall, the Alpha. This sixteen-year-old boy put enough bullets in that house, I'm surprised it's still standing." I exclaimed patting Nolan on the shoulder as Ethan started to laugh causing everyone to stare at him.
"Scott? You're worried about Scott? You obviously haven't met his sister. You're so dead" Ethan said panting and chuckling.
"We're not worried. We don't have to be. We're not alone. You won't have to be alone." I said turning back to the crowd.
"Thanks to Gerard, you have an armory. Guns, weapons. And most of all, you have each other. I don't wanna pretend that this will be easy. I know it goes against our nature as protectors. But you're gonna have to be like Nolan and Sydney. Keep their bravery in mind when you step out tonight and do what you know you have to do." I yelled before turning to Sydney and Nolan.
"Sydney. Get him out of here. You, too."
Liams pov
"Doesn't feel good, does it? You know why they're looking at you like that? They're afraid of me? They're afraid of what you're gonna say, and who you're gonna say it to. Nobody trusts you anymore." I said looking at Nolan and we hid in one of the library racks.
"Then why are you here? How come you texted me back?"
"Cause maybe this time I'll kick your ass."
"I said I was going to help. I can show you something. Something I know you're gonna wanna see. Where?"
"At the hospital"
"Why don't you just tell me what it is?"
"Because I had a plan."
"You? You have a plan?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I, I'm gonna show you what you need to see at the hospital. Then you're gonna kick my ass so Miss Monroe thinks that you had to beat the information out of me." Nolan stuttered.
"Yeah, I'm good with that plan."
Maisys pov
"Any of you know the term for what I'm doing?" Deucalion asked as he hit the shipping containers with his stick.
"Echolocation." I answered bluntly.
"You did your homework."
"Not exactly" I answered as Deucalion tried to strike me and I blocked even with my blindfold on.
"You've been trained" Deucalion said trying to attack me again, only to be blocked yet again.
"A little" I said striking him.
"Take off your blindfold" Deucalion demanded as everyone took off their blindfolds.
"When did you learn? Why did you learn? Why didn't you say anything?" Scott asked.
"One question at a time" I said.
"Stryder?" Aiden asked.
"He always had weird methods" I answered.
"Who's Stryder?" Malia asked.
"The one who taught me all about myself, about what I can do"
*Flashback*
"How is this going to help with anything?" I asked as Stryder strikes me in the face again, causing me to groan.
"This isn't fair, I can't see you" I mumbled through the blindfold.
"Thats the point, child." Stryder chuckled
"Feel my energy, see me through the blindfold.. without using your Alphs eyes" he said the last bit quickly as I went to use my Alpha eyes.
"Then how am I supposed to see you?"
"This isn't about being an Alpha you know how to do that, I've taught you to do that. This is about using your powers, untapping your Druid side, use your druid eyes" Stryder said in his powerful Alpha tone.
"Breath in slowly, feel the power thats stored within you and let it out" Listening to what Stryder said I opened my eyes slowly glowing them...purple.
"How long did it take you to master?" Deucalion asked snapping me out of my memories.
"A few years" I answered.
"And you guys think you can learn in just one day what took us years to master?" Deucalion asked Aiden, Scott and Malia.
"We were hoping for maybe a few highlights." Scott said
"Yeah, or anything that can help us fight the Anuk-ite without looking at it." Malia said
"Fighting blind is one thing. You haven't even learned to walk yet. An Orientation and Mobility specialist has to practice blindfolded with a white cane for at least a hundred and twenty hours before becoming certified. I can't teach you to walk and fight in less than twenty-four." Deucalion spoke
"Look, we know the odds are bad. But Gerard's got an army. There's a creature that can scare ordinary people into becoming killers" Scott said.
"The creature now capable of killing you with just a look. You saw them, didn't you?"
"We saw people turn to stone." I said
"So why aren't all of you running for your lives?" Deucalion asked
"Because we don't run." Scott said.
