Cousin. Right. Cousin. That easy. Very nice, Todd. Very nice.

I mean, if ever your cousin arrived at an unexpected occasion then exchanged how-are-you’s with you since you haven’t met for like, years, I wouldn’t do the thing Kevin did right after he flooded the place with emotions.

He spoke to me intentionally for the 5th time.

“Well, Dane, your mom called you.” He said blankly.

“Tell her I need air. And I’m waiting for Lee.” I replied taking a step away from the reunion scene. “Beck, tell her I’ll be back. And I’m gonna be okay,”

“All right.” Becky said as she pulled Todd with her and reached for the door.

“I’ll talk to you later, Kev.” Todd added and the couple disappeared.

                Kevin stayed. He didn’t move.

“I told you,” I spoke again, in case Kevin didn’t get my point. “Tell Mom it’s okay. I’ll wait for Lee.” Still, he didn’t move. I looked away and watched the blinks of lights outside the gate where the media waits for the bridal car to mop their faces.

“Lee.” Kevin’s deep voice cut the silence. “He’s coming?”

Duh. Lee Coverdale’s my boyfriend. Of course he’s coming. He’s gonna see me in my stupid silky blue gown and think that I’m a big blue drop from the ocean.

“Yeah, of course,” I replied, still staring at the blinks of lights in the night sky. “Except that he’s still not here. I thought he’ll be at the church but—”

“He’s still not here now,” He finished up for me. “Then I suppose he missed your outfit.”

                “Doesn’t matter. I know he’s coming,” I said.

                Wait.

Why is he talking to me?

“Aren’t you going back?” I asked. You know curiosity kills me.

“Later will do. I just realized the night air is amazing and gives me some space from the PC’s radiation.” He replied, still not looking at me.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” I asked, since Kevin is really acting weird now. This is not the Kevin Parkson I knew.

I mean, you know the Kevin Parkson that existed in my life is the Kevin who gets stuck in the studio in school trying to figure out which sound fits a scene best and the Kevin who isn’t talking to me this LONG. Right. This conversation of ours is the longest talk I ever had with him.

“All right,” He started again. “I’m going back,” Good, I thought. “Wait and wait till you have enough,” Then he went back inside.

Whatever. I’m waiting for my boyfriend with or without you.

“Dane?” Becky replaced weird Kevin. “Are you sure you’re all right? Mom by the way wanted to kill you already for not going in,” She continued.

“Yeah, whatever. I’m not coming in and converse with any Hollywood soul. You know that, Beck.” I replied boringly.
