Bella POV
Two weeks have passed since our vacation. I've missed James so much now. I tried calling him but it always goes straight to voice mail. I had doubts about him but I just figured he was just busy. I got news that Carlos already got married n Mexico. Lucky him. I also knew James and the guys came. I saw pictures of them and they looked like they were very happy, especially Carlos. Mexican rusher came to his wedding. Rushers are very thoughtful and kind to them.
Here I am at the island counter in my grandparents house, eating cereal while mom cooked bacon and eggs for Austin. He's such a kid. He's 16 but he acted like a 6 year old. He sat down beside me and started eating his breakfast.
"You know, you could use some protein." He said
"Shut up." I shot a look at him.
"I bet your boyfriend is already cheating on you." I paused for a moment and gripped my spoon hard.
"You don't know what you're talking about. He's not like that!" I shouted.
"Okay, okay. Jeez. I'm just sayin'" He said.
My mom looked angrily at us both.
"Manners. You're both in front of food. You don't fight in front of a blessing. And you, young man, stop it. You don't know your sister's boyfriend well enough to say that." She said.
We both finished our food and placed our plates on the sink.
"Look, I'm sorry for saying that." Austin said.
"It's okay. I know you're just joking." I said.
He went upstairs to do his business. Me, I went to the living room to sit and watch tv. My grandmother sat beside me and told me something.
"Your cousin's coming today. He said he missed you so much since they moved to Australia." My nana said.
Great. Another boy in the family will visit me. Actually, I am the only girl in my relatives. Even my father's side of my cousins are boys. So this one's from Australia. Well, not really 'cause they just moved there because mom's sister married an Aussie. By the way, his name is Ashton. They usually come to America once in a while. He's a bit older than me, like a year or so. He works there as a secretary to the company's CEO. He's really lucky to get promoted to that position.
Speaking of, he's already here. And I think he brought a friend.
"Ashton! My dear! How was your trip?" My mom said in excitement.
"It was a tad exhausting, but it was worth it." He said in his raw Australian accent.
"By the way, where's my favorite cousin, Bella?" He asked.
"Oh, she's over the living room with your grandmother."
Just as soon as mom said that, he was already right behind me.
"Oh I missed you so much, mate!!" He said, hugging my from behind.
"Missed you too, mate!" I said chuckling.
"Brought you some goodies from Australia. I'll get them for you later. By the way, where's your brother. I heard he just turned sixteen last week. Forgot to greet him." He said in a fast Aussie accent.
I almost couldn't make out the words. I remembered him coming here a few years ago and he don't talk like that. He must have adapted there. Soon enough, my brother came bolting down the stairs.
"I heard someone foreign." He said as he scanned the room.
"Oh, hello Austin. By the way, belated happy birthday mate!" Ashton said.
"Ashton!?! Long time no see bro! Do you have any presents for me?" He said.
"Actually I have. I'll get them later together with Bella's." He said.
"Um, oh! I almost forgot. Alright everybody, I'd like you to meet Max. My best friend. He's also here to visit his family. C'mon here mate. Introduce yourself." He said gesturing for him to come over.
"Uh, hi. I'm Max. Max Ackerman. I'm Ashton's former office mate but because of his promotion we got separated. But we go to lunch together." He said.
"Nah, we didn't get separated mate. We just got different rooms, that's all." He said chuckling.
"Yeah, by the way I'm off to Los Angeles on Friday. My family moved there." Max said.
"You're off to Los Angeles on Friday!?" I asked, surprisingly.
"Yep. Can't wait to meet my folks." He responded.
"Well, I'm going there too. I'm looking for a job there."
"Oh really? So we must be on the same flight."
"Heh, I hope so." I said. Just then, Ashton butted in.
"Well, enough chatter. Lunch is ready." Wow, I never knew mom could cook that fast.
~~~~~~
It was Friday and Max and I arrived at LA early. We did have the same flight. Ah, finally back to the city of dreams. My dreams. As we went out of the terminal, he asked me where I lived and I told him where. Surprisingly, his family's house wasn't far enough from mine. We rode the same taxi to his place and then mine. After getting to his family's house, we said our goodbyes and the taxi went straight ahead to my home. I got out and paid the cab. Got the keys out and opened the door. I stepped inside and took a good look around. It still looked the same since I left it but it needed a little cleaning. I sighed.
"Back to my reality."
