Chapter 3:
Jiraiya frantically watched from the sidelines as the doctors bustled around the injured figure of Tsunade, the genjutsu that kept her young being dispelled. Just a few minutes ago Tsunade had been ambushed by an enemy ninja, laying helpless and dying in his arms. There...there had been so much blood, on his hands on her clothes, the doctors said that it would be a miracle if she would be able to function normally again. Of course, they didn't know that Tsunade was the best medic-nin in all of the Elemental Nations, and the Hokage to boot, but that did not mean Jiraiya was not worried. He shook the dark thoughts from his head as a lady in an all white nurse uniform walked towards him with a clipboard held between her arms.
Immediately Jiraiya snapped out of his daze and locked his intense gaze on the nurse's face, searching for an answer to his turmoil. The nurse gave him a wary smile, before coming to a stop before him and clutching her clipboard with a little more force than before, parted her lips to speak.
"Jiraiya-sama, your partner's condition has been stabilized, although the shiruken that she was injured with may have caused some mild damage to the spine, we highly recommend that she travels by wheelchair for any long distances." Jiraiya narrows his eyes the slightest bit, though the nurse was doing her best to keep a benevolent facade, as a ninja he could tell that there was more that she was not telling him yet.
"A-And well", the nurse finally began to stutter, "she also has a very se-severe case o-of amn-amnesia" the nurse says quickly. "You may spend some time with her now if you wan't" the lady quickly bows her head and begins to walk out of the room, leaving Jiraiya alone with Tsunade.
Jiraiya cautiously moves towards the side of the hospital bed. Tsunade's chakra, having recovered had automatically cast her genjutsu, and she returned to her usual appearance. Slowly, she opened her eyes, and hazel brown stared softly at him in confusion. She struggled to get into a sitting position, and then finally spoke.
"Who...are you?" Tsunade said slowly, almost as if she were testing the way each word sounded on her tongue. "Who... am I" She says again, though her tone has gotten less feeble and somewhat more confident, although still obviously confused. Jiraiya didn't know what to say in a situation like this. He had not fully comprehended that what the nurse labeled as "amnesia" would be a severe enough case that she not only forgot who he was but also her own past. Jiraiya decided that he would take it slow,as to not overwhelm or confuse Tsunade's befuddled mind any further.
"I'm Jiraiya." he said with the warmest voice he could muster, he couldn't have Tsunade being afraid now could he? "and you are Tsunade." he continued, pointing at himself and then her respectively.
"Tsu....nade" she murmured to herself, letting the name roll around in her mouth. Jiraiya grinned, he felt like teaching Tsunade about who she was would be quite a lot of fun.
----------------------
Tsunade - at least that is what the white maned man called her - felt like part of her was missing. She did not remember anything that the white ma- Jiraiya had claimed she had done in her past. Tsunade concluded she was suffering from some sort of memory loss, but was shocked that she supposedly lost it while getting attacked by ninjas of a foreign village. Even more shocking was that she was a leader of the largest ninja village, Konohagakure, the village hidden in the leaves.
