Chapter 4:

She awoke to the smell of breakfast, the sizzling of bacon and... some eggs maybe? Tsunade slowly opened up her eyes, and was dazzled with a view of the beautiful ocean through the balcony window. The waves lapped upon the smooth sand, before withdrawing into the glittering blue mass of water, which stretched far into the distance, touching the horizon. She continued to relax in the presence of the ocean, until a light cough cut through the mood.

----------------------

Jiraiya had woken up at the break of dawn, something that all ninja were trained to do. Looking to his side, he saw the love of his life, cradled at his side with one arm swung over his chest, and her angelic face snuggled into his chest. Even as he had gently removed her hold on his clothes, and slid out from the soft comfort of the bed, Jiraiya reminded himself that this Tsunade was not the one he knew, and swore not to take advantage of her while she recovered from her amnesia.

He quickly changed his clothes in the bathroom, and then fumbled through their supplies, preparing to make breakfast for the two of them. Jiraiya softly chuckled to himself, remembering how Tsunade had never been a good cook, and the badly charred food they had been forced to eat during a mission when they were still kids where Orochimaru and himself had been too injured to make dinner. He laughed out loud when he relieved these memories, but then quickly shut his mouth in apprehension when he remembered that Tsunade was still sleeping in the room nearby. Jiraiya definitely did not want to be the one who woke up Tsunade, for she was known across Konoha for her grumpy attitude, and no one dared wake her when she fell asleep while working at her desk. It was the first rule any new assistant at the Hokage tower learned. "Never wake up Tsunade, EVER" Only Shizune, her former apprentice had any chance of escaping without severe consequences.

After whipping up a simple meal of bacon and eggs, he set the table, and snagged a glass of water before putting a few pills that the doctor had prescribed for Tsunade on a napkin. He then gently opened the door the the bedroom, and looked to the bed, to be stunned by the dazzling sight of Tsunade, sitting facing the ocean balcony, her hair mussed with sleep yet still silky and glowing golden with the light of the rising sun. Jiraiya could not see her face, but imagined a serene and tranquil expression, without a worry in the world. He stood by the doorway, just watching her for a bit longer, not wanting to ruin the moment, before stepping toward her.

He was slightly surprised when Tsunade didn't immediately turn to face him, she should have sensed my chakra or presence by now right? But then remembered of her amnesia, she probably doesn't even know what chakra is! Tsunade was just a normal non-shinobi citizen right now, with no knowledge whatsoever of ninjas! He gently cleared his throat to alert her of his presence, and she abruptly turned her head at the sound.

----------------------

Tsunade was snapped out of her daze and turned to the source of the noise. There in the doorway stood Jiraiya, the man who was currently helping her recover her lost memories. She grinned at him, in a good mood because of the calming ocean.

"Good morning Jiraiya! Did you make breakfast? Because I have no idea how to cook" Tsunade remarked with a slight chuckle.

Jiraiya seemed to be shocked, before he seemingly accepted whatever it was, and laughed as well.

"Haha, yeah I made breakfast already, and have everything set up at the table, I came to let you know, and uh, help you out of bed" He said while scratching the back of his head, something he seemed to have a habit of doing.

Tsunade smiled again, and eased herself to sit at the edge of the bed, while Jiraiya went and grabbed her pair of crutches, which had been placed in a corner by the closet, before bringing them to her spot beside the bed. Together they managed to prop her up on her crutches before Jiraiya led the way out of the bedroom, holding the door wide open for Tsunade to get through without struggle.

"So you know how to cook, yea?" Said Tsunade with genuine curiosity as she took in the sight of their freshly made breakfast sitting on the kitchen island top. It was a simple meal of bacon and eggs, but was enough to make her stomach growl as she hadn't been able to eat much yesterday since she was in a hospital most of the time, and too tired once they got to the hotel.

"Ah? Oh yea I can cook, It's not much though but I do what I can" Jiraiya said sheepishly, scratching the back of his head with one hand in a familiar manner. Tsunade smiled before inhaling the delicious scents, and maneuvered her crutches until she could take a seat at the dining table because the high chairs at the island were much to difficult to get into in her injured state. Jiraiya brought the food laden plates over, and a glass of water with a few pills that the doctor had prescribed. Tsunade smiled thankfully at him and downed the pills with a few gulps of water before placing the glass down on the table and turned to the meal that had been laid out before her. As she looked at the breakfast that Jiraiya had prepared, her stomach let out a loud growl, and she immediately blushed red in embarrassment.

"Goddammit, first morning and I'm already embarrassing myself... I wonder if I acted this way before the accident," Tsunade thought as she recollected herself and began preparing a plate of bacon and eggs. Glancing up cautiously at Jiraiya, she was relieved to find him oblivious to her internal struggle and was busy pouring another cup of water... and a cup of sake? Alcohol this early in the morning?

"Is he an alcoholic?!"

----------------------

After he had brought her pills and the dishes over to the table that Tsunade had sat down at, he watched as she viewed the breakfast that he had prepared for them for the morning, he found himself paying close attention to her reactions and hoping that he had pleased her, even though he knew that it was a simple breakfast and Tsunade would never pay a true compliment to him. To his surprise and delight, she actually stared longingly at the food and her stomach even growled. Jiraiya smiled at his success before turning away in order to pour himself a cup of water, and out of sheer habit, he began to pour Tsunade a cup of sake that she usually enjoyed in the morning, afternoon, evening, and basically anytime of the day.

"She always does love her cup, or cups of sake," he slightly smiled at the thought. Hearing a pause in the noise of breakfast from behind him, and an unnerving stare focused on his back that he could sense with years of shinobi training, he decided to quickly finish pouring the sake and placed it on a matching saucer before turning around to see Tsunade staring at him with wide eyes that swam with confusion.

"Is there a problem, Hime?" Her eyes snapped out of their confused daze as she focused back on his question.

"Ah! ah... no, but...I am wondering..." she hesitates before continuing as Jiraiya nods encouragingly, "do you usually drink such strong alcohol this early in the mornings?" she finishes, while gesturing to the saucer and cup with sake that he had poured along side a glass of water before sitting quietly and waiting for an answer.

"I- oh! no! NO!" Jiraiya stutters as he scrambles for words. His face flushes a scarlet red and he mentally berates himself.

"Crap, why do I keep forgetting that she lost her memory! HER MEMORY!! She doesn't even remember how much of a hardcore alcoholic she was!"
