After Hephaestus showed up, Percy and I had lots of time to catch up on sleep, and were given some ambrosia. Needless to say, we felt extremely better almost immediately.

After Hephaestus had left, many people needed rest. Especially Jason. He had been probably the hardest worker, besides Leo. Jason slept for 2 and a half days straight, and when he woke, everyone, especially Percy who had been in charge all by himself without Jason, was glad to see him.

But that gladness didn't last long. Jason hasn't been awake for twenty minutes when we heard Nico scream, "Percy!!!"

Percy and I looked at each other, confused, then rushed to Nico's bunk. There, Jason lay on the ground, and he looked dead. Nico was crouched beside him in tears. He looked up at Percy and I. "I-I don't know what happened," he blubbered out, "one minute we were talking, and the next there was a flash of light and he-he..." Nico choked up.

"Is he dead?" I asked, despair filling my lungs. This couldn't be happening. We needed Jason. If he was dead...then a thought came into my head. Piper. Oh my gods. What would Piper do if Jason died? Piper and I were basically sisters. I couldn't bear to see her go through this. But, it looked like she might have to. Tears filled my eyes.

Percy crouched down next to Jason. "No." He muttered. He took Jason's wrist. He was going to feel for a pulse. I looked down at him hopefully. With as much hope as I could muster up.

"Oh my gods." Percy said.

"He-he's really-" I couldn't say any more.

Luckily I didn't have to. Percy looked up to me and smiled. "He's alive. He has a pulse." I rushed to Percy's side. I felt Jason's pulse. Percy was right. He had a pulse. Who did this to him? He was in some sort of coma.

"How did this happen?" I asked Nico. "You were the only one in the room."

"I told you what happened," Nico replied, "there was a flash of light, and he fell to the ground. That's all I know."

Suddenly, Piper rushed into the room. "Oh my gods!" She screamed, then rushed towards him. "No...NO!!!" She sobbed into his shirt.

"Piper..." I started.

"What happened." She muttered. "Who did this to him?!"

"He's only asleep. In some sort of coma."

Piper collapsed to the floor. I knelt down next to her. "Piper..."

"I need him." She muttered. "I need him."

Percy picked up Jason. "I'm gonna go put him in his bunk." I nodded.

"Piper, why don't you go get some rest?" I told her, softly. She nodded, and I helped her up.

It was nighttime. Percy and I stood on the deck of the Argo II, staring off into the distance. "Percy, everything's falling apart." I told him.

"No." Was all he answered.

We stood silent for a minute, and then I decided to continue. "What do you mean no?" I asked, looking at him. "There's obviously something going on in our crew. Nico and Leo can't be in the same room together, we're a man down, and nobody knows why, and Piper...gods! Who knows how long Jason will be asleep and Piper will be depressed the whole time. Oh! And need I add that we lost Frank's-"

"Annabeth! Gods would you shut up?!" He shouted. And I took a step back, shocked. I couldn't remember the last time he yelled at me. Ever.

He took a deep breath. Tears formed in my eyes. "Annabeth." He said much more calmly. "I-I'm sorry. But I know everything's going wrong. I know." He took my hand. "But all the gods above, Greek and Roman, know that I won't give up. I won't stop fighting this terrible fate till the day I die. I swear." Now tears formed in his eyes. I looked down. I couldn't bear to see him cry.

After a minute or two of silence, he broke it. "Annabeth?" He said.

I looked up, trying to act strong. I looked into his eyes. His deep, sea green eyes. They were hardened and mature. "Yeah?" I said.

"I swear on the river Styx, I will get us through this. We will grow up, and live normal lives. After this, we're done. We can go live in Wherever you want. We can have a family. We can sleep, breathe, and eat like normal people. Because I love you. I promise, I will get you to the life you've always dreamed of having."

Through all these beautiful dreams and aspirations, all I could think of was one thing.

"An oath to keep to the final breath."

And I broke down in tears into his arms.
