Pain throbbed through me intensely and I curled into a ball. I heard voices yelling in an uproar around me but I couldn't focus on anything beyond the unbearable pain. I felt hands around me trying to soothe me but nothing could ease my agony.
"Enough Father stop that!" I heard a woman’s voice say fiercely and finally the pain ceased.
"How dare you bring that scum back here!" I looked up to see the man on the throne pointing viciously at me. I looked at him, noting his steel grey hair, his evil black eyes and the wrinkles that seemed to set his face into a permanent scowl.
"She is your granddaughter." Selenia said shock evident in her voice.
"She is nothing but an inbred worthless pieced of scum who belongs not of this world." He replied harshly.
His brutal words washed over me making me feel like the lowest of the low and the freak that I knew I was. It was only then I felt a warm supportive hand in mine. I looked up to see Hayden with a fierce wealth of power emanating from him.
"You will not say such a thing to my life bond." Hayden's furious words seemed to almost pierce the man.
"Humph if she is your life bond then you have every amount of sympathy from me." The man grunted with a rough chuckle.
"You don't even know her! All you ever did was throw her into a world where she never belonged." Hayden told him his voice low but deadly.
"She is nothing but a freak of nature that never should have occurred." The man spat the words directly at me and they felt like a blow to the heart.
"What makes her that? The fact that you never approved of who her father was?" Selenia replied which only made the man look more furious.
"Do not mention his name within these walls!" The man demanded as he stood and glared at us.
"Sephrefilian, my true life bond. Sephrefilian the man I would die for quite happily. Sephrefilian the man you left to die for making me bear his child. Sephrefilian who none in Argonia could ever replace." Selenia whispered the words. The pain and indescribable loss in them made my heart begin to break while everyone else gaped.
"Selenia why didn't you mention this before. So Jo is what?" Charlie asked in a shocked voice.
"Jo is only what my father forced on me. I love him but he has never nor will he ever be my true life bond." Selenia said simply but oh so sadly.
"What happened to my father?" I asked quietly with an almost desperate urge to know anything about him.
"Enough! You will say nothing in my throne room you bastard child!" The man pointed at me and for the first time in my life I found my fury overtaking my innate shyness.
"And what do you intend to do about it? Make me suffer intense pain again? Nothing will ever be as painful to me as the way you abandoned me. I recognised you before I even saw you. You have been a part of my dreams for as long as I can remember and at least now I understand why. I may be a bastard child but at least it was from a couple who truly loved each other!" I furiously stated and for some strange reason the whole room stopped and stared at me.
"Leena was he from your dream last night?" Hayden finally asked and I shrugged with uncertainty which caused him to curse.
"I don't know I never saw his face. It could have been anyone." I told Hayden before turning back to my mother "Please tell me what happened to my Father." I demanded of my mother whose face fell into a deep depression.
"He was cast from the tribe never to return." Selenia told me as she glared at the furious man still standing by his throne.
"Say no more I forbid it." The man shouted in a panic.
