"Please, let them be safe." He whispered as shots rang out in the forest. Jungkook ran through the woods as the air grew colder. In the distance, he could see the sun set, slowly drawing the forest into complete darkness. He tripped over some roots, gravity forcing his face to the moss and dirt.
Jungkook sat up, jumping back to consciousness. He brushed off his knees, feeling the raw skin. It only seemed like a minute, but when he looked up, his face met the stars. He would never find them now. The sky's lights were bright but hidden by pine needles and leaves. The little light he could see was nearly nonexistent.
Earlier, Jimin had panicked and sprinted into the woods to hide from the supposed sniper hunting him. Yoongi had followed Jimin, trying to keep him safe. After a few hours, no news, and hearing some gunshots, Jungkook had thrown caution to the wind and burst after them.
He shivered, the cool reaching his bones. Were they still alive? He brought his jacket tighter around him and rested his back against a tree. Should I keep going? No, I have to wait for light. Otherwise, I'll lose myself as well. His heavy lids closed and he slipped into a tortured slumber, not able to escape the darkness that began to whisper in his ear.
