chapter five

I am awakened by a slight sound of beeping.

I felt a burning ache in my stomach causing me to open my eyes and wonder where I was. The very first thing i saw were the dimmed down lights which seemed brighter than they actually were.

I look around this strange room and soon realized I was laying in a hospital bed.

The clock read 2:43am which explained why my surroundings were so quite.

my mind starts spiralling about why im here and what happened before I was here. only bits and pieces would come to mind.

Xiara and I were fighting about something, I heard my name a couple of times, felt my body being thrown at something and before my eyes full shut... I saw Ethan running towards me?

I needed to know what happened. I needed answers but I cant seem to process what happened earlier today.

I was about to reach for my phone on the night stand beside me to let my parents or at least my sister know what was going on but right as I reached for my device, the door slowly opened revealing a very tired looking Yasmin.

Her shirt was covered in small spots of blood which I assumed was mine since my stomach was wrapped up. her hair was in a messy bun, her eyes looked tired with purple looking bags underneath them.

" Good you're finally up " she said almost whispering.

" Yas what are you doing here? what happened? " I asked flinching as I spoke due to the bruises on my face.

" After you said bye to me I started walking to my class when I realized I left my phone back in the car. by the time I reached your class I heard chanting and people yelling and videoing some fight. as I took a closer step to the fight I noticed your back pack on the ground and I heard you scream when that bitch Xiara basically threw you into the glass wall. I got help from a couple of people but mainly Ethan, he drove us here. " she said explaining what had happened earlier today.

" also dang girl you got your ass beat up by a bitch, who according to you tried to break her own ankle so she wouldn't have to do gym, what happened?? " she slightly laughed while also being serious.

" girl I don't even remember what happend...have the doctors said anything since I've been here? "

" when you got here you were put under surgery, you had pieces of glass stuck all over your body mainly around your stomach. you might also have a concussion but its nothing too serious. you'll be released tomorrow around noon but you can't go to school till your stomach is healed fully. you have to drink a lot of liquids and eat soft foods. " she explained.

I nodded my head while admiring how loyal this girl is. shes known me for only a few days and stayed here at the hospital for almost 24 hours taking care of me as if shes my sister.

" Yas I cant thank you enough for all you've done for me these past few days. Im so sorry for all the trouble I caused. go home and get some rest. " I smiled as I held her hand.

" Ary its okay they have a bed for me here just get some rest ill be here when you wake up. " she got up as she covered me with an extra blanket.

" Thank you Yas, you're too good to me. goodnight " I said as I hugged her feeling a sharp pain in my lower abdomen as I tried to move but soon went away as I laid back down again.

I tried to adjust myself in the uncomfortable hospital bed. soon my eyes hung lower and lower by the second as if they were curtains at the theatre.

I felt someones hand on my back slightly moving me.

My eyes fluttered open, the very first thing I noticed was the female doctor standing in front of me. as I slightly turn to face myself with Ali and Yas huddling around me as well.
" Hello Dorna! my name is Dr. Anderson. " she said in a soft soothing voice as she put her hand out for me to shake it.

" hi, nice to meet you " I said weakly smiling, shaking her warm hand as I adjusted myself in bed.

" I know you're tired and want to go home but before we dismiss you I would like to go over all the foods you can and cant have, instructions on how to change your bandages and information about the incident and medications you'll be needing " she sat on the small stool in front of my bed, taking out her pen and writing down my instructions as well as a list of food I could eat and methods to use to help my healing process progress faster.

With the help of Yasmin I got up and started to change into clothes that Ali brought in for me this morning.

" so listen, I was coming back to your room this morning after getting breakfast and Ethan was here to see you. I told him you were still asleep but he genuinely seemed worried and wanted to talk to you. I told him to come back later or to text you or something but yeah just letting you know. " Yasmin explained to me also helping me change into my black sweater.

" Why does he all of a sudden care about me? I mean yeah we had a good time at the party but you know how he is, he only wants a girl for with couple of nights just to fuck around with and then never call her back. and out of all people I know I shouldn't be saying that since I've only been here for a couple of days but in these past days the shit I have heard about him doesn't make him look too good. " I ranted.

" I've know him for all my life. I know how he is but I also know the real him. he's been through some tough shit these past 2 years. its really not my place to say what happened to him but just let him talk to you. get to know him before you judge him so quickly. " Yasmin reassuringly said.

" I mean come on, he's a rich kid who gets what he wants when he wants it. he doesn't seem like the type but you're also right. I don't know, this whole thing just doesn't seem right to me. Why would someone like him care for someone he doesn't even know? why would a guy like him talk to a girl like me? " I shrugged as I wore my slides and started to pack my stuff into the small black duffle bag.

My phone vibrated against the wooden nightstand.

I pick it up and see a couple of texts from Taalia and the most recent one from Ali, he let me know that he's waiting down in the car for Yas and I.

I text a simple okay.

Making sure I had not left anything behind as we head out of the hospital room.
