CARL GRIMES

MY BODY WAS getting warmer and more tensed by the second. I was trying stay calm, but god damn it was hard.

I had no reason to be jealous, I mean me and Carl were only friends and nothing more. But seeing Enid, one of the few girls in Alexandria give him kisses every now and then and him reacting with a small smile and red cheeks made me so angry.

But I believe that the anger is just something that comes out instead of me feeling the pain in my heart as I watch the boy I care for so much, care for another girl.

I turned around, walking down the street so I could escape the sight of Carl and Enid holding hands down the street.

"That I actually thought we had something.." I mumbled to myself as I made the door shut with a 'bam' in both hurt and anger.

••

A few hours later, I had still not left my room and I knew it was just a matter of time before Carl would knock on the door and ask what's wrong. And like all the other times, I lie and tell him that everything's fine.

"Y/N?" Carl's soft voice said after a gentle knock on the door.
I walked up to the door and opened it, revealing Carl.

"What do you want Carl?"

"Wow what's up with you?" Carl said while walking into the room and crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned against the door.

"Nothing" I replied simply

"Seriously Y/N? I know that you've been lying about how you feel and all that. You honestly believe you could get away with lying to me? We've known each other for years."

"Yeah well I thought it would be easier since all you do is being with Enid."

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me, Carl." I continued. "since you got together with her, we have barerly talked because you are to busy making out with her!"

"That's not true,Y/N!" Carl said back, raising his voice slightly just like I had.

"Yes it is! You don't realise it! And I'm happy for you that you found someone but why can't you see that it's always been me?! You never-" I stopped, realising what I had just said.

Carl walked closer to me and I started to back away from him, feeling my heart beat out of my chest. My back hit the wall and Carl put his hands on the wall, keeping me in place.

He looked into my eyes
"What do you mean, Y/N?" His voice was low and dark, but gentle.

"I-I..." no words would come out and we kept on looking into each other eyes.

"I have to go" I breathed out and somehow managed to escape his grip and run out of the room.

My legs moved fast and didn't stop until I reached my destination; the lake. Of course I knew I had to face Carl again, but I was going to do my best to keep it from happening.

Tears slowly rolled down my cheeks.

"What have I done?" I whispered "this is going to change everything..."
