Chapter 13

Killian's POV

Before me or Emma can say anything Bae throws a punch at me. I easily dodge it. "Hello Bae. You must find some new tricks. Punching will only get you so far." I say casually. "Emma what the hell are you doing with him!?" "What the hell are you doing trying to punch him!?" Emma responds. "Dad? Who's at the door?" Henry says. I see a broken expression on Emma's face. "Was that Henry?" She says, tears forming in her eyes. "How do you know his name?" "No matter." I say. "Look we've obviously got some explaining to so. I'm sensing you don't want the boy to know I'm Captain Hook or to know that she's his mother. Am I correct?" They both nod. "Now there's no way we can explain if you two are throwing punches and yelling at each other." They both look down with a guilty expression. "Now I suggested we get the boy to school and then we can explain." They nod again and Bae let's us in. "Henry these are....uh...some of my clients. I'm helping them with a case." "What? Did they skip bail?" "Oh he's still a little spitfire." I say. "Still?" He ask confused. "They're not perps Henry. They're clients." "Why are you dressed like that?" He asks me. "Why are you dressed like that!?" I ask back a little offended. "Okay. Henry go get dressed." "What? Why?" "Because we're leaving soon. Go." He reluctantly walks away. "Sorry about that. Henry's been having....trouble lately." Bae says walking over to the dishes on the table and taking them to the sink. "He needs his mother." Emma says heart broken. "Don't blame yourself Swan." "Who else should I blame? I left him. No goodbye. Nothing." "I'm sorry. Am I missing something?" Bae asks obviously confused. "We'll explain later. Can I walk Henry to school?" Emma asks with hopeful eyes. "Sure but he'll be a little confused." Emma smiles brightly. That's the happiest I've seen her since I found her. Soon Henry comes out. "Henry Emma's gonna walk you to school. I've got some paper work I need to fill out." He nods and starts to walk out the door. "If I come back and each of you have a black let's just say you'll have a more severe injury when I'm done with you. Be good." Emma says before she walks out with Henry.

Emma's POV

Me and Henry walk out and onto the sidewalk. "So you and my dad?" "I'm sorry?" I say laughing a little. "You and my dad act like you know each other.....from outside of work." "I went on a couple dates with your father yes but....we went our desperate ways years ago." "How many? Years I mean." "Hmm...I'd say about thirteen. Why?" "That's exactly when my dad left my mom." He looks down. "And when my mom abandoned me." I stop walking. "Henry....how would you like to skip school today?" "That'd be awesome!" He replies with a smile. "But I don't think my father would like." I looks down and frowns again. "I'll take care of your father. Come on. I wanna show you something." I say starting to walk again. We walk past his bus stop and a girl around his age stops us. "Hey Henry!" She says with a bright, warm smile. "Hey Monica." Henry says walking over to her and gives her a hug. He explains why he won't be at school and talks for a little bit. She gives him a kiss on the cheek before getting on the bus. He walks back over to me and we start walking again. "Who was that?" I say casually trying not to get too excited about the cheek kiss. "My girlfriend." I nod smiling a little. "I'm trying to work up the courage to break up with her though. She's so sweet, her kindness makes it harder." "Why? You guys look like a really cute couple." "Yeah but....it's just....me and my dad are always moving. I think he does it because he's trying act like there's nothing wrong but I know there is. He's losing hope of finding my mom." I sigh. "So what did you want to show me?" "Oh right. Come on." We walk in silence for a while until we get there. "The docks?" "Yeah. I find the cool ocean breeze and the sound of waves crashing against the shore very....soothing don't you?" "Yeah I guess." We sit down on a bench. "Henry I want to show you something."
