"Who is it?" Alice mumbled, burying her face in the pillow to try getting back to sleep but the knocking continued.
"Us, the maids, Miss Kingsleigh." A voice came from the other side of the door, "Time to get ready!"
"Oh..yea.." She yawned, sitting up and forced her eyes open slightly, "Ready for what?"
"Your big day ma'am." The voice replied, a little confused.
"My big day..?" Alice muttered then suddenly jolted upright and gasped, "That's today! Oh my g- ahh!
She got up out of bed. Then tripped and fell onto the rug.
She regained her balance and rushed over to open the door, letting the maids enter, two of them already getting a bath ready and the other staring at her.
"Miss Alice you must be pretty and prepared! Now into the tub, we are at your service and will treat you till you glow!" Mary Anne exclaimed and lightly pushed the girl into the bathroom.
Everything passed by in a blur for Alice, all she remembered was the sound of water and the scent of flower shampoo in the air along with the chatter of the women. She tried to join in but couldn't seem to keep up, mostly lost in her thoughts about what was going to happen.
One of the maids handed her a robe and hurried Alice back to the other room while the other tried to dry her hair. After that, Mary Anne started doing her hair.
"Maybe something with a bun or curls?" Alice thought about how she wanted it styled, something nice yet simple.
"I think I have an idea." Mary Anne nodded and started styling, pins here, curls there, twists and a bit of pulling, "Here we go!"
But Alice wasn't allowed to see herself until they were done so she sat back and closed her eyes while they worked their magic, she could feel the tickle of the make-up but stayed still.
After what seemed like hours, they finally finished and let her stand up but before she looked in the mirror, she needed the dress first.
"The Hatter really went all out on it just for you." One of the maids said and Alice raised a brow. She shouldn't be surprised, of course he would be the one making it but it was a sweet surprise to know.
All three of the maids quickly went out and retrieved it, bringing it back. The dress was like a dream in Alice's eyes. It was white and light blue with detailed designs lined by diamonds that sparkled in the sunlight and had a sweetheart neckline.
"Wow..it's gorgeous.. I can't believe he did this.." Alice had a wide smile on and when she felt the fabric, it was softer than any she'd ever felt.
Mary Anne took Alice into the walk in closet and helped her put the dress on. A few minutes passed until they both came out.
"Oh my goodness! Miss Alice you look perfect!" The maid, Isabelle exclaimed and clapped lightly.
Alice slowly stepped up towards the large mirror. In front her stood a woman who looked even more unrecognizable and beautiful as the one on the day of the ball.
Her pale fair skin complimented the look along with the dash of make-up. Her hair was pulled back into a low bun that looked like a rose and the curls cascaded down her back. The dress twirled when she did and it fit like a glove, it was very comfortable as well.
There was a knock at the door and the queen appeared. "How is it going-?" She stopped and smiled, suddenly squealing and cleared her throat, "Alice you look beautiful!"
"Thank you." Alice nodded and smiled, she wasn't used to all the compliments but she had to agree, this was the best she's ever looked.
"Oh and you have some visitors!" Mirana stepped out of the way and called out, "You may come in now."
Helen and Margaret Kingsleigh walked in and looked up, their expressions filled with surprise that turned to happiness. They went over and hugged her tight, careful not to mess anything up.
"W-what? How are you here?!" Alice smiled with shock but excitement.
"We had a little help from a certain man with a hat." Margaret chuckled and Alice joined in, shaking her head.
She should have also known Tarrant would do something like this, oh how lucky she was to have him! She'd have to make sure to thank him later for this.
"My dear daughter you look positively lovely!" Helen smiled proudly and quickly wiped a tear, "Your father would have been happy for you."
"He's here with us mother." Alice smiled back, tears forming but she quickly fanned them away as to not ruin her look.
"Now now, don't cry or you'll make me cry." Helen laughed slightly with a shaky breath, "Your getting married, you must look presentable."
"Thank you for everything mother, you too Margaret." Alice glanced at her sister who's eyes were filled with tears already as they embraced each other.
"Are you ready champion? It's time to go." Mirana stepped up to them and took the lead with the others following behind her.
**Scene Change**
Tarrant got ready with Cheshire and Thackery's help and a maid who just delivered his suit. He muttered to himself the whole time, nerves creeping up on him.
"What if she changes her mind.. or goes back to her world or.." Hatter was cut off by Cheshire placing a paw over his mouth.
"Tarrant it's a pity how you say such things. I can see she loves you so suck it up." Cheshire floated in front of him, examining his claws, "Besides, don't you love her?"
"More than my life." He lisped and realized the fur ball had a point . He never thought he'd be saying this but the feline was actually helpful, "Your right Chess."
Thackery laughed at a spoon and threw it at their heads, making them duck then went up to Hatter with his hat.
"Thank ye Earwicket." Hatter thanked the march hare in his accent and placed his prized tophat on his head, there was no way he would go anywhere without it.
Glancing at the mirror one last time to make sure everything was just right, suit on, hat in place, he took a deep breath.
"Always and forever." Alice and Hatter both whispered, staring at the mirror then they both looked away, going out to the garden ready to start their beginning.
