I stared at McGonagall. They actually succeeded. And it's my fault. If I would have told someone...
Thea, who was normally very composed, hid her face in her hands. Romulus and a bunch of other Ravenclaws ran up to McGonagall and started badgering her with questions. McGonagall backed away from all of the students.
"All we know is that two students from Hogwarts did it and that there will be no school for the rest of the week," she said and then she headed for the door. "Oh, and one more thing," she waved her wand and all the party stuff went away. "Happy birthday Mr. Weasley." And with that, McGonagall left and closed the door.
At that point, I trudged up to my dorm and laid on my bed. I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I remember was sunlight was streaming through the window and someone was poking me. I rolled over and saw it was Thea, her blonde hair was in her face and mattered.
"Kat, we have to go."
I sat up. "Why? What's wrong?"
Thea shook her head and grabbed my hand. "Just c'mon."
I stood up and ran after her. Her light pink nightgown fluttered in the breeze as we raced across the courtyard. She finally stopped at one of the trees. Something was hanging in it. It was a dummy with the words The Ministry of Magic painted in red on it. A crowd of students was gathered around it.
Romulus weaved his way through the crowd, followed by Scorpius and the blonde girl I saw yesterday. Romulus smiled at me. "Lovely day, isn't it?"
I couldn't help snickering. "Mmhm."
McGonagall appeared and she was not happy. "Who did this?" No one answered. "Well?" Still, nobody said anything. McGonagall sighed and shook her head. "Alright, fine, but if anybody knows anything, come straight to me!"
I bit the inside of my mouth. Thanks for the tip. But how will I explain how I know?
Just then, Fred walked up to me. "You know we don't have school today, right?" I nodded absentmindedly. "Then why are you still wearing your uniform? Oh, and you might want to iron it too. And fix your hair."
I looked down at myself. I was still wearing my uniform and it was all crumpled since I slept in it. My hair was a mess too. The usual pony-tail I have it in was not so much a pony-tail as a bird's nest now. I quickly pulled my hair out of my scrunchi and redid it.
Fred smiled. "Much better." Romulus scowled at him. Fred shrugged. "What?" Romulus shook his head and walked away.
I went back to my dorm and changed. Then, after breakfast, I tried to figure out what to do. Should I tell McGonagall? Shouldn't I? I sighed and sat down on a bench with my head in my hands.
