Chapter 2~Hogwarts

"Kat, wake up!"

I opened one eyes and found Thea starring at me. "Omigosh," I said sleepily. "Whatzzabigideaa?"

"Huh?" Thea raised her eyebrow. "Never mind, just get up. We're almost there."

 I sat up and stared out the window. It was getting dark so I couldn't see much. Suddenly, the whole world lit up. A huge castle towered over the train and the surrounding landscape. "Whoa," I breathed.

The train jerked to a halt and students started spilling out. I hesitated before walking out. First years were sepparated from the rest of the students. We were lead into the Great Hall. A professor stood in front of us and told us what we were supposed to do. I hardly heard anything she said and followed the rest of the group into the front of the Great Hall.

"Kat," Thea nudged me.

I looked around. "What?" Then I noticed that everyone was staring at me. The professor pointed to the chair and the hat. I walked up unsteadily and sat down.

When the professor put the hat on my head, I could immediately feel the hat probing my brain.

Hmm, where should I place you?

Gryffindor, I thought. Definitely.

I don't think so. Ravenclaw would suit you better.

I shook my head. No, I have to be in Gryffindor.

And why is that?

I just feel like I belong there.

I could feel the hat getting impatient. Well perhaps you are brave but you won't fulfill your destiny if you go to Gryffindor.

Now I was paying attention. What destiny?

You'll have to see... "Ravenclaw!!!" The hat announced to the crowd.

As I sat down next to a boy with dark black hair, he sighed. "Finally."

I frowned. "What do you mean, finally?"

The boy looked at me. He had brilliant green eyes. "It took the hat about 10 minutes to sort you. You're a hatstall."

I stared at the boy. "Really?"

He nodded. "I'm Romulus by the way."

"I'm Katherine. You can call me Kat."

Romulus smiled. "Nice to meet you Kat."
