THREE MONTHS LATER

"God almighty I am never bringing you with me again." Polly groaned as she lit up her cigarette.

They were at Birmingham train station once again, although this time it was for good purpose. Michael was on his way home. Olivia had been staring at the clock as if she could speed up time, counting down the seconds until his train would pull in.

"I've missed him. And he says he has presents for me." Olivia was biting her fingernails.

A smile crept into Polly's face and she quickly turned away. When Michael first dropped the metaphorical bombshell of proposing, Polly had fainted. Right there, on Tommy's floor. Once she was over the initial shock, she couldn't contain her happiness. Every man and his dog knew about Michael's plans, except for the woman herself.

"What if he's got a really gorgeous American woman or something? Called Diana, with blonde hair and blue eyes, you know, and she clings onto him like-" Olivia vented her worries whilst earning off looks from the station master as he eavesdropped.

"I can assure you that he doesn't. Look sharp he's coming." Polly noticed the incoming train and swiveled Olivia around on the spot, so she faced the carriages.

The train halted in the station. Olivia's heart was beating hard, her stomach swirling with nerves. Various business men and mothers with children alighted the train after their trip down from Liverpool. Michael was one of the last to get off due to his battle with his suitcase. The train almost left with him still onboard, as soon as he got off the train started to move off. He was a tangled and stressed mess as he stood on the platform, shrouded by steam from the train.

The first thing Liv noticed was the absence of his stick, meaning he was full recovered and things were finally back to normal. As the smoke dispersed, she finally saw him, a lopsided smile on his face. She quickly ran and threw herself at him, almost knocking him onto the tracks in the process.

"Fuck." He laughed into her neck as they held each other on the platform.

"You're okay." She whispered.

Polly watched on from afar, her son and her daughter in law finally back together. A small smile appeared on her face as her heart swelled. She wished that Olivia's family were still there, Liv's mother stood next to Polly as they cooed over the couple. Sam would be trying to pull them apart as he never wanted too many boys around his little sister. Polly decided to leave them too it, heading to the car to wait for them.

"Please just tell me this because I've been panicking for 92 days straight, have you slept with an American actress called Diana?" Olivia wrapped her arms around his neck as his hands snakes around her waist.

"What?" He laughed in disbelief. "Of course not. Did you sleep with Finn?"

"No!" She slapped his chest. "He's a friend."

"I'll still knock his teeth out. Family or fucking not. You're my fucking girlfriend after all." He tucked some hair behind her ear.

"That sounded ever so slightly American." She kissed him softly.

For the two of them, the world seemed to vanish. They forgot where they were, and that Polly was sat in the car reading the paper. People squeezed past them and swore as they stood in the way, but they didn't care.
