Deliveries aren't always something nice

Evie had contemplated Simon's words well into the night, remaining in the same seat staring blankly into the flowers which surrounded her. It must have been hours that she remained bolted to that seat almost as if she was to move that the weight of those words would come crashing down on her. So much so that the morning light she had originally be sat in had slipped into the darkness of night the moon now casting its shine upon her. She was so absorbed in her own thoughts that she hadn't noticed someone else joining her in the gardens or when they sat down beside her. She only noticed the other person's presence when they took her hand into their own. Slowly turning her head to see who it was, her fight or flight reflexes rearing to kick in, she was pleasantly surprised. For it had been Izzy who had joined her in the gardens, possibly being the only person who knew she was here. Without uttering a single word Evie intertwined the pairs hands as they sat there for slightly longer.

No words continued to be spoken between the pair as they both stood and left the gardens, their destination at first being unknown. This was until Evie's stomach made them aware of just how long she had gone without food, and therefore their destination was now the kitchen. Neither of the two girls were excellent cooks, Evie recalling the first time she had heard about Izzy's lack of cooking ability. Her lack of cooking ability derived from her disinterest in it, unlike her usual hobbies it was too slow, too normal and too feminine for her to really get into it. She did know how to cook one thing, so the pair would have to settle for pancakes. Whilst eating Evie decided it was no time like the present to resort to how she used to eat them as a young child, filling her plate with the highest sugar concentrated food she could find in the kitchen. This also being the moment when a comfortable silence washed over them once again. The silence being interrupted however. An alarm blaring its way through the building was not one she recognised, for Evie and not been there long enough to be able to distinguish between the different types of alarm. However, she knew it to be serious considering how Izzy became hypersensitive and sat up sharply in her seat. This was also aided by the small group of people who had crowded around the front door. This small crowd consisted of her sister and the remanding members of the quintet they had been referred to as of recent. So, slowly she stood with Izzy at her side as they moved to join the rest of the group. She was thankful, for the look on Clary's face informed her that she was not the only one at a loss of what was going on.

"What's happening?" Clary asked stating the question which was too on Evie's mind.

"Looks like someone is trying to break in" Came the response from who Evie would happily call the most attractive shadowhunter there. So they decide what was the best thing to do. Once again they would risk their lives by going outside to investigate these claims. Evie prepped herself for a full-on ambush by the enemy hoping to get another taste of the fighting she was slowly growing addicted to. Once outside, the sight set upon them was not something Evie would have ever thought to see. Stood in front of them was one of the vampires from the time Simon had been kidnapped and in said vampires arms was the she had only spoken to hours previously. It was Simon, and he did not look very well. Not in the slightest, all colour had drained from his face and she was certain that she could not see his Chest move indicating he was not breathing. Evie could only watch on in pure shock as Clary cried out for Simon as she lost her composure over the fact that the Vampire, who Evie had learnt was named Raphael, confirmed that Simon was dead. Evie herself could not believe the words he spoke for mere hours earlier she had talked to him, heard his voice for what now would be the last time ever. She was quite likely one of the last people he ever spoke to, she didn't care for the arguments the others were having around her whether this situation was wrong or right. Sure Simon could be annoying, and yes her sister deserved someone better than him. But he did not deserve this, nor did he deserve to live out the rest of his days as a member of the undead. These were not his wishes and as she had promised to him earlier she was going to try her hardest to ensure he got what he wanted.

"Your friend can be resurrected" Raphael had explained. Evie watched on as everyone else began to protest the option, happy that the majority were as much against this idea as she was. The only problem that Clary was very much up for this option wanting to hear everything so she could make a so called educated decision. But this should not have been Clary's decision rather it was something Simon should have decided and if her sister had gotten of her high horse and called her Best friend back or listened to him when he called her she would have been aware of these wishes. But she had not for Clary's problems would always take priority over anyone or anything else Evie was furious at the approach her sister was taking nobody else was rather big about this whole turning into a vampire thing.

"Clary stop, listen to yourself for just one moment. You're ready to put your best friend through some sort of transitional state just so you can spend some more time with him. What you're doing is out of selfishness not out of what is best for him. Tell me have you stopped to listen to him? Have you slowed down for just one moment to think about him and his problems? Don't even attempt to answer that for we know you answer. It's no isn't it? You haven't thought about him in days because he's not as important as you are. His problems, his worries they aren't and never have been as important as anything you're going through. Am I getting this right? This is because there's nothing or no one who could ever go through something like you. No one ever has any problems as bad as your own. When was the last time you called him and talked, like really talked not just asked him for help? If you had done so you would have known his wishes. You would know that he has been worried sick for days now thinking he was transitioning into a vampire. You would also know that his deepest wishes are to remain as he is, human. He wants to be left alone to die in peace, celebrated traditionally according to his Jewish faith. He does not want this lifestyle!" Evie snapped at her older sister her voice raising in volume as her rant continued, her anger at her sister amounting.

"You don't know anything Evie. You think you're all high and mighty. But you're not. You're weak. You're stupid. And you're a waste of space. Don't go lecturing me about best friends I didn't kill mine." Clary just as volatile snapped back at her younger sister. Tears welled in Evie's eyes as she took in the look of pure hatred remained upon Clary's face. Though this feeling of hurt continued to fuel her words destroying any filter that would control what words she used. Looking at the others would not help either for they seemed to be too shocked over the argument between the twins.

"I got my best friend killed? That's posh words coming for you, I would have never dragged her into this. When you dragged Simon into this world you signed his death certificate. I would have never forced my opinions or self-righteousness upon her. For crying out loud I was there for her no matter what, each time she called or left a message I ensured to call back and work through her problems. I never thought of myself above them and now I'm telling you to listen to his wishes and opinions. Whatever yo do, do not bury him." Evie attempted to get her words across without following the burning desire in her to clock her sister across the face and knock her out long enough so that there was no chance she could go ahead and bury Simon.

"What makes you think I'm going to listen to you, I'm the better sister. When have you ever been right about something? Never! I've always been right and you have always been wrong. You really think I'm going to believe some stupid little lie you've created about Simon? He doesn't even like you, he only spends time with you because you're constantly around me. You've clung to me so hard that he's been forced to tolerate you. Why on earth would he want to speak to someone like you of all people?" Clary fired back

"I'm not going to be around you if you can't listen to reason. I'm leaving I refuse to have any part in this." Evie exclaimed before turning and heading out into the darkness. No shouts told her to turn around as nobody moved to head after her the shock of the argument rooting the others to their places.
