She had no intentions of meeting anyone new right now
Evie lied when she said she went to bed, there were still hours until Simon would awaken as a vampire or never wake again. She could not sleep, rather she headed off in a search for anyone who could take her mind off of the current situation. The place she ended up at was just in the foyer fo the institute. She was casually talking to Billie who she felt bad for not having spoken to for days. They hadn't spoken about much. There was not a lot to speak of other than idle chatter. She was lucky Billie was not pressing for information about the scene she had created earlier or her disappearance afterwards. Everything seemed to have calmed down by now and Evie felt as though she could let her barriers down and relax again. However, this moment did not last very long as all of a sudden a man walked through the door. She had only seen his picture once before, but she could never forget a face like that.
Valentine.
The man who was hell bent on killing them all and starting a hierarchy of superiority. She wasted no time taking only seconds to decide on what she was going to do. Evie had no weapons upon her body but decided that someone could fire at him once he was distracted. Therefore, she did the most logical thing she could think of, she rugby tackled him. The two went down with a large bang as the force of which she propelled herself at him was high. However, when she looked down to see the face of the man she was supposed to call her father she was shocked to see it was a woman not much older than herself. She then let out a small squeal when an arrow flew only slightly above them challenging the supposed 'Valentine' to get up and attack. However, Evie looked down at the woman she had brutally knocked over before getting up. She lent a hand down towards her offering help to return her to her feet. That was when she helped her up to her feet and looked to see the surprised faces of everyone around them. No one else other than Alec had moved to approach the situation. Everyone else seemed frozen to their places. This must not have looked good to the intruder who obviously was not enjoying what was going on.
"That reaction time was abysmal. Except from you, and I suppose you arrow guy. I'm Lydia Branwell envoy from the Clave." Evie felt a small amount of pride at the fact that she was being praised in front of the others for her good deeds. All she had done was potentially offer herself as a distraction to be killed so that everyone else could fight off Valentine. It wasn't a big deal to her anymore. Dying that was.
She then watched on as the others suffered upon realising this woman was here to take over as head of the institute. Evie then zoned out before heading to bed for real this time. The rugby tackle having taken any pent up energy she had left. Nothing she could do right now would affect anything anyways. She went to her room and without bothering to change she took off her shoes and curled herself into a ball on her bed. She made no effort to lock her door wishing that the monsters that went tick in the night would actually get her. Whilst she slept the others were awake. Alec and the new member Lydia were out doing important stuff for the institute. The others, however, were doing the one thing she was so adamant about not doing.
Clary had made her decision, she was going to resurrect Simon. There could have been plenty ways to stage it to enable Simon's family got closure. But even now they were not going to be able to see him, he would have to go 'missing'. For how could he explain he was not going to age, could no longer eat human food. No, Clary had made the decision to bring Simon back and face the consequences of this choice later on. Simon was reborn that night. Not as a new person for he was Jewish and that was a Buddhist belief. No, he changed for Simon now would forever be a child of the night. Clary had tried to explain what had happened and why she had buried him. Tried to assure him that he would still be the same Simon. Yet the only thing he could think about or assume was that he was a monster.
But he was not the only one thinking that, that night.
