The crowd of demons littering the halls all paused and turned their heads. Quickly, they darted out of the way and kept their heads low. Fidgeting, no one dared to raise their eyes from the floor.

Down the hall with a frown etched on his face, a teen walked near, determination with each step and a air of authority surrounding him. He paused outside the door that the demons stood outside of and turned to one of them, "Is he awake yet?"

"Y-yes my lord," One answered, "But he doesn't want visitors..."

He ignored the demon and burst into the room saying loudly, "Lucifer! Where is the nearest portal?!"

"Get out Rin, You can't just burst into my room whenever you want," the voice of Lucifer grumbled.

Lucifer was a lilac haired slender demon, sitting comfortably in his chair with a pile of games at his feet. They were scattered across his floor, mingled in with one another and it was hard to tell what game went with what pieces. He flickered his gaze from the pieces to rest on Rin standing there not listening to what he had just said.

"Hey, get out," Lucifer repeated.

"Tell me where the nearest portal is located," Rin repeated.

"Why?"

"Because I'm going to the human world," Rin answered.

Lucifer raised an eye, "How come? Humans suck, and they're boring too. Plus your dad won't like it. I think he's in the middle of planning to take over Assiah anyways."

Rin rolled his eyes, "Well it beats staying here and dying of boredom anyways. My mom's told me all about Assiah! Can you believe there is cars, and trains, and airplanes, and movie theaters, and amusement parks and everything?! Assiah has so much to do and see! Plus my brother is there too!"

"You're a demon king though, you can't just leave," Lucifer reminded him.

Rin waved away his words, "So? It's not like I actually do anything. Plus I'm not a real demon king yet, not until the ceremony. I'm just a king in name only."

Lucifer rolled his eyes, "Whatever."

"So! Are you gonna tell me where the portal is?"

"Don't know so stop bothering me," Lucifer replied.

Rin pouted, "Well I'm going to find out, See ya later Lucie."

"Fine--hey! Don't call me that!" Lucifer yelled, his cheeks flushing pink.

Rin laughed and waved as he stepped out, leaving Lucifer there in his room grumbling.

"Amaimon! Where's the portal to Assiah?" Rin questioned, popping up behind the demon to sling an arm around his shoulder.

"You can't use it," The green haired demon responded, glancing at Rin in mild curiosity.

"How Come?"

"Satan's keeping it under watch 'cause of those angels and the war."

Rin rolled his eyes, "So? Tell me where it is! I have a right to know."

"I can show you but it's not gonna make a difference. You're not allowed to get too close to it, Satan's orders."

"Don't worry! I won't get close enough for the old man to notice, I just wanna see it."

Something told Amaimon that Rin was lying but he shrugged his shoulders anyway and began walking. Rin let his arm slip from Amaimon as he walked behind him, excitement flowing through him.

"It's over there," Amaimon said, stopping and pointing forward. Rin paused to look at it, glancing around curiously.

"Where?" He said after a moment.

"There, and all around us. This is the place."

Rin frowned and crossed his arms, "Stop kidding me. You're telling me that the portal is this room of the castle?"

"Uh huh. There's some requirements to leaving Gehenna, but to leave you have to come here and do that."

"Do that? What's that?"

"Well, this and that."

Confusion etched itself onto Rin's face and he would have pestered Amaimon further, but at that moment a voice spoke that sent a shiver down his spine.

"What are you doing here Rin?"

"Ah! M-mom! I'm not doing anything!" Rin responded, quickly turning around and flashing his mother a smile.

His mother Yuri stared at him for a moment and frowned. "What did I say about lying to me?"

"I'm not lying! I just wanted to--uh--go on a walk with my mate! That's all!"

Rin quickly slung an arm over Amaimon's shoulder and gave him a quick peck on the cheek before smiling at his mother.

Yuri raised an eye, not at all believing him, but sighed nonetheless and said, "Good grief. You're always causing trouble aren't you? Your father wants to see you. Apparently, there's something important he needs to speak with you about."

"Okay, I'll go then! Bye Amaimon!" Rin said quickly, departing for his father's throne room.

Yuri glanced to Amaimon as Rin left and said, "What did he really want?"

The demon shrugged in response and gave no answer.

"So it was about the portal huh?" Yuri questioned knowingly. She sighed, "I hope he doesn't get any ideas."
