"Who was that?" a voice asked questionably. My eyes widened and my body froze when I figured out who was behind me. I mentally cursed myself for talking to the over-inked boy in front of Ashton. I turned around and wanted to give an explanation, but I couldn't seem to find one.

"It was a boy," I stated. "A boy?" Ashton said raising an eyebrow. I sighed and said,"Boy- noun: the opposite sex of a girl. Example- Ashton Irwin," I said sarcastically as I walked past him to get to the main building. "Well, obviously," he said as he caught up to me. "But who was he?" he asked emphasizing the 'was'.

"It was just a boy wanting gas. Chillax. I can talk to guys if I want to Ashton. I mean, I talk to you," I said as I turned around to face him. "But he has tattoos," he pointed out. "So do you." "Well, he also has piercings." "So do I! Now can we end this please?" I asked rolling my eyes. "What did you want to tell me anyway?"

"I was wanting to ask you if you wanted to get some lunch with me. I need to have some time to talk to you," he said looking at me dead in the eyes. I nodded my head and said,"Yeah, meet me at Sandy's Seafood Shack at twelve." He nodded and then headed to his car.

I wanted to know what was wrong with Ashton. He looked like something was wrong by the way he furrowed his eyebrows and they way his mouth frowned. Ashton was never unhappy. He was the happiest person you could meet in the whole world, so when something was wrong, something was really wrong.

I shrugged it off and went inside to find my dad sorting out fish bait. He turned around and said to me,"Flo, can you get that shipment of sodas out in the back?" I nodded and rushed outside to the front to find a big, cardboard box with what must be the sodas. I picked up the heavy box and stumbled back inside to sort out the sodas and put them in the refrigerator. "You're doing great so far," my father complimented me as he walked past me to go outside. I smiled and wiped the collecting beads of sweat on my forehead.

After a couple of hours of work, I looked at my watch and saw that it was twelve o'clock. I rushed to my bike, which was parked outside the building from where I left it last time I came, and started to ride it to meet Ashton. When I got to the beach-side restaurant, Ashton was waiting there for me in the parking lot. I quickly jumped off of my bike and greeted Ashton.

"Shall we go in?" he smiled. I nodded and we both went inside. We got a table with a great view of the beach and I smiled at how graceful the waves looked as they crashed against the shore. I saw a little girl that looked like the age of two with her mother on the shoreline. The little girl giggled as the water reached her toes and I laughed at how cute she was. I always wanted to have a daughter like that. One that was full of energy and happiness.

"She's cute, isn't she?" Ashton smiled. I nodded in agreement and turned my focus towards Ashton. "So what did you want to talk to me about?" I asked. He sighed and said,"I'm here to talk to you about your future, Flo. You're worrying me." I was a little taken aback by his comment. When has he become my father?, I thought to myself. "Listen, I"m already going to a college. I do have a future, Ash. And by this point, I already have a job!" I said. "I know, but..." he sighed,"You haven't had a boyfriend in your life yet and you're eighteen."

One, I knew that was true, but that was Ashton's fault. He always separates me from the cute guys that try to talk to me. Two, I wasn't in to that sort of thing. I had bigger things on my hands and I didn't want a guy to distract me from those things. Three, I always knew how relationships last. You get together and act all sweet to each other, but as time goes by, they guy doesn't want anything to do with you and he breaks up with you. I never wanted a person to treat me that way. Never.

"Why does this concern you?" I asked rolling my eyes. "I just want you to be happy with somebody," he sadly said. "Ash, do you remember what happened with your last girlfriend? There is no such thing as happiness. There is no such thing as love. You have to know that now, or else you are going to get hurt later." He looked hurt, but that didn't bother me. He asked for it.
