bzzzt... bzzzt... bzzzt...

I groggily opened my eyes and scowled at the light-grey blind covering my bedroom window. The sun's early morning light seeped through the gaps and shone directly onto my face. It took me a second to register the sound that my phone was still emitting. Not for long... I thought, an evil grin spreading across my face. Grabbing the device, I attempted to tap the 'snooze' button numerous times. But it didn't work. I scowled at the iPhone, debating whether it would be worth sacrificing the electronic device to what I liked to call 'the wall God'. I had a new replacement being delivered later on today anyway and after that I would never use it again. So why not?

bzzzt...bzzzt...bzz-

I developed a 'screw it' attitude towards the current situation and launched the phone across the room. It hit the wall with a satisfying crack and settled on the floor. The screen was visibly broken, but that didn't matter. It had shut it up anyway.

I somehow convinced my body to put in the required amount of effort it took to get myself out of bed and successfully managed to maneuver over to the location of the ruined phone. Without falling victim to the obstacle course the various piles of both dirty and clean washing, unfinished books of different genres and of course the overflowing rubbish bin made. I had promised mum that my room would be clean in time for the return of her beloved fiancé for about 4 weeks now. Even I knew the mess was starting to get a bit ridiculous and out of hand.

I sighed and picked up the phone. Only to hiss in pain and let it fall back onto the carpet when a piece of glass from the smashed screen created a small gash on the palm of my hand. Small droplets of crimson blood leaked out and landed on the off-white coloured carpet when I clenched my hand, which probably wasn't my best idea considering the cut was near one of the weird fold-things in my palm - which meant it bled more than a usual cut due to the pressure I had put on it.

"Well, that's most probably going to leave a mark..." I mumbled as I gave the wound my attention. Once I was sure it wasn't going to cause me any serious harm I made a beeline for the bathroom. I reached the location of the closed bathroom door and walked straight into it. Not realising it was, well, closed.

Two injuries in five minutes? I may have been clumsy but that was just ridiculous. I got the distinct feeling that today was just not going to go my way, no matter what occurred.

At least the run-in with the door had heightened my dreary, dull, not-so-good-with-thinking-before-12-in-the-morning brain. I frowned as I picked up strands of my messy chestnut-brown hair, it had always been a pain to deal with in the mornings. I quickly hopped in the shower and spent the next ten minutes of my life belting out the lyrics to my favourite songs as I washed my shoulder-length hair.

The time was 7:30am, I had an hour exactly until I was required to be in school. I smirked, eyeing my small book collection hungrily. "I suppose one chapter of it wouldn't hurt... Right?" I mumbled to myself, already reaching for the book.

☁︎ Half an hour later ☁︎

I sniffled and gently placed the book face down on my desk. Why had I decided to read it before school? 'He didn't have to abandon her like that... Clearly he loves her! Ugh, guys like that are the ones I don't think I'll ever be able to understand.' I thought irritably. I moved my school bag onto my bed and opened it up, it had all of my books for today's lessons. Good.

I grabbed my folded school uniform that had been perched on my desk. First, I shoved on the blouse, buttoning it up apart from the one on my collar. It usually choked me if I did that button up and that was something I was going to do without on a Monday morning. Then, I put on my tights and skirt. I made sure the blouse was neatly tucked into the skirt and moved onto the school tie. It had purple and silver diagonal stripes decorating its fabric. I quickly moulded the fabric into the tie-shape.
