School was over and I headed to the bus where I found Kaydra and sat next to her and her gaze of amazement.
"What is wrong with your face-" I started.
"Trevor Peck is your boyfriend." She shook her head with the same expression. "I mean, you're attractive, I'll give you that but how did you get him?!-"
"What are you talking about?!" I ask, laughing.
"Dude, rumors spread like wild fire. Leo was harassing you; Trevor saved the day and walked your ass to class."
I nodded, "Not bad for a rumor. That's what actually happened. But it doesn't mean I'm his girlfriend."
As if on cue, my phone vibrates. Kaydra smirks, "Speak of the devil...?"
I roll my eyes, "Shh, you."
"What'd he say?" She poked my arm.
I forced her arms away. My smile died. "It's from Leo. He said he wants to meet up to work on our project again." I looked to her for advice.
"Don't go." She shook her head. "Text Trevor!!" she tried tickling me now.
I laughed, "Fine!" I typed a message and it sent. "I said, 'Hey, it's Ruby, the girl you saved this morning'"
She smiled "What a perfect beginning to a love story."
I laughed, "Please, I don't have love stories."
The bus started and drove from the school.
When I stepped off of the bus I got a text back. "Finally," I mutter to myself, jokingly.
His text message read, "Oh, right, how could I forget you?"
I laughed, even though he couldn't hear me. "A lot of people do."
It was particularly beautiful outside; the trees danced with the light breeze. There weren't any clouds, just perfect pure blue sky. I sighed happily at the wind that bounced off my cheeks, and blew my hair around. My phone vibrated then it vibrated again. I looked at the screen. Trevor was calling me. I don't know why, but I was nervous to answer. I slide the green phone across the bottom before putting it up to my ear.
"Hello?" I clear my throat.
"Hey, beautiful," He said, I could tell he was smiling. Also that he was in a car, with the window down because I could hear the air whipping all around him.
"Hi," I didn't know what else to say.
He chuckled, "Are you busy?"
"Me?" I falter, blushing at the thought he'd want to hang out with me.
He chuckled again, "Yes, you,"
"oh...uhm, no, actually, I'm not. ...Would you wanna come over to my house?"
He agreed and I gave him my address. We said our goodbyes then ending the phone call. I smile a little. I was going to hang out with a very attractive guy. I was hoping Trevor wouldn't be like Leo...
My thoughts were ruined when I hear a truck pull up next to me. I didn't look at the driver until the car stopped and Leo got out.
"Wow," He says walking after me. I panicked.
"L-Leo-"
He reached over and grabbed my arm, where the bruises are. I wince, and try to push him away with my free hand.
"Leo, let go of me-"
"Why'd you do that this morning? Huh?!" He pulled me closer to him. "I didn't appreciate that, bitch."
I tried to pull away. "Leo, let me go-no, Leo!" He began yanking me to his truck.
"You were really disrespectful this morning, and you're going to be punished for that."
I fought as much as I could. I slipped out of his grasp. As if in a dream, I smiled through my tears and turned to run away, dropping my bag behind me. He caught up to me. He picked me up his arm around my middle. I screamed, yet he covered my mouth.
How was no one seeing this?! He turned around and started carrying me to his car. I screamed into his hand. No. This couldn't happen. Not again. I kick and fight from Leo's grasp. Another truck comes around the corner. The driver honks their horn at us. Leo moves us to the side of the road. The driver jumps out of the car and comes over.
"Trevor!" I muffle into Leo's hand.
"Hey!" Trevor says to Leo, "Put her down!"
Leo backed up, and tripped over his heal, making us both fall down. Leo's hold on me broke and I push off the ground. Trevor gently takes my arm and helps me up. Leo grabs my other arm, trying to pull me back to him. Trevor mumbles something, and then kicks Leo where the sun doesn't shine. Leo releases me so he can hold himself in pain.
Trevor stands between me and Leo, his arm slightly to the side and behind him to protect me.
"I thought I told you to leave her alone..." When Leo didn't reply he continued, "Why didn't you?"
Leo just looked up at him, angry written in his expression.
Trevor stepped forward, threatening and Leo flinched, "Okay!" Leo sighed, "I just wanted to work on our project-"
"Bullshit, I saw you trying to force her in your car. That's called kidnapping."
"Yeah, but-"
"Yeah?" He scoffs, "No. Shut up. You will leave her alone, if I see you within three feet of her, I'll kick your ass. I'm going to let you go, this time. Because me and Ruby are going to her house, and we're going to talk about all the different ways we could murder you and get away with it." Trevor turned around. He went over and picked up my bag,
"Thank you,"
He smiled sadly "it's nothing..." He opened his passenger's side door for me and I climbed in. He closed it then went around and drove down the street.
We pulled into my driveway and we both got out.
"So I guess it's getting serious, since I'm meeting your parents," He smirked as we walked up to the porch.
I smiled for a second, but it faltered and I frowned, "Parent..." I corrected him.
He got a sad look in his eyes, "I'm so sorr-"
"Don't be..." I fake a smile. I opened the door.
My mom said "Ruby, there's someone I want you to meet!" and I said "Mom, there's someone I want you to meet," at the same time. Trevor walked in behind me, as a very pretty girl came into view behind my mom.
