After our coffee, we walked to my house. It wasn't too far. Amber held my hand until we were in my room. As we got up there I lifted my shirt over my head.

"Whoa there big boy."

"I'm showing you my secret."

"Oh.."

"I was in foster care.."

"Really?"

"My dad would hit my, my mom molested me, my brother was a drunk and my sister was a hooker. One day, I had had enough and called the cops. They found me half alive in my room, starved, beaten. I had three broken ribs, a broken arm, broken leg. I was in rehab for months just regaining my strength. You're the first person I've showed these scars to. They had to do surgery to get my bones back into place."

"Cole.."

She wiped a few tears from my eyes before wrapping her arms around my neck.

"We're both broken, and two broken pieces can mend to make one."

"I love you."

"I love you too. Do you think I could, stay here? I don't wanna go home, I'm scared I'll do something again but worse."

"Stay as long as you want."

And she did. She went home, I went with her, and got some clothes. We drove back to my house and laid in my bed. It didn't take is long to fall asleep. But even in my sleep, I could only think of Amber.
