"Yes?" A young woman answered the phone.

The last time they had spoken, she was only nine years old. Her mother had gotten tired of the phone calls that seemed like they would never stop and changed phone numbers after moving to a new house with her daughter.

He was unable to find them for years, until just recently.

"Hello princess, its been a long time. Do you know who I am?" He said, hoping his daughter hadn't forgotten him.

"You're that guy who always used to call, asking for mum." She replied, though her voice lacked the happiness it had whenever she answered the phone as a little girl. "My mum is busy right now. She's greeting all the guests. Today is my Sweet Sixteen party, you know."

"Happy Birthday, princess." He said to her, eyes brimming with tears.

She replied in a bored tone, as if hoping he would hang up the phone already, "Thank you."

"Well I should let you go..." He said.

"If you want to talk to mum, I'll give her the phone. But make it quick cause my dad's about to arrive." She told him.

"Your dad?" Harry asked, confused.

"Mum's boyfriend Jared. they've been together for so long now that I call him dad." She clarified. "Look, here she comes. Do you want to talk to her or not?"

"Wait, Summer, I need to tell you something." He insisted.

"What?" She snapped impatiently.

"I'm your dad." He blurted out.

From the other end, he heard her laugh at him. It was an ice cold sound that tore through his heart. "Right. Mum said you were a strange guy, but I thought she was being paranoid. I know my dad died before I was born, okay? So don't try to fool me."

"Who's on the phone, darling?" He heard Autumn's voice in the background.

"That guy who always calls." Summer replied.

"Give me the phone." She said. Harry heard as Summer handed the phone off to her mother and then heard her footsteps as she walked away. "What do you want, Harry?" Autumn heaved a tired sigh.

He was relieved that she wasn't yelling at him like the last time they talked.

"I just wanted to know if Summer was doing okay." He told her.

"She's fine." Autumn hissed before hanging up the phone.
