[ epilogue ]

They stood waiting outside the cathedral; Autumn and Harry.

Summer would be arriving any moment and the ceremony would begin. A few feet away, his son in law stood with his parents, looking nervous. Tugging Harry by the arm, Autumn led him towards the young man with dark blonde hair and sea green eyes. Harry smiled awkwardly at the young man, while Autumn placed a hand on his shoulder reassuringly. "Stop being so nervous, Thomas."

"But what if something happened? She should be here by now?" He said to them, his green eyes full of concern.

Just then, a white limousine pulled up in front of the cathedral and out came Summer in her puffy white dress. Both Harry and Thomas watched the young woman approach them, neither of them thought there could ever be someone more beautiful.

Everyone piled into the church as Summer greeted her mother, her fiance, and lastly her dad. Placing her hands in his, she smiled wide, "I'm so glad to have you here, daddy."

"I wouldn't miss it for the world." He told her, tears brimming his eyes.

"Will you walk me up to the altar?" She asked hesitantly.

"I would be honored." He replied.

He sat next to Autumn on one of the first pews in the church, watching his little girl get married.

From his side, the woman he once loved and still loved with all his heart nudged him to get his attention. He turned his head slightly and she whispered to him. "Isn't this lovely, Harry?" She sighed, tears brimming her eyes. "We never got a fairy tale ending like this, but our daughter does."

"Its still not too late, Autumn." He whispered to her. "I've always loved you. And I know you still love me too."

Biting her lip nervously, she thought about it. "I don't know."

"Please give me another chance." He pleaded, slipping a hand into hers. And then he added one question, one that would define the rest of their lives. "Do you love me?"

At the altar, their daughter had been asked if she wanted to marry Thomas, the two of them staring into each other's eyes lovingly. Autumn shifted in her seat to meet Harry's green eyes. There was hurt in them as she remembered everything that had happened between them, but once she made her decision, she was sure it was the right one.

And so, both mother and daughter uttered their answers at the same time.

"I do."
