Landing a part-time job at the WcDonald's branch in Hirahara Business Park, you get ready for your shift.
Speaking of Hirahara, you haven't heard from or even seen Kousuke lately. Normally, he would be in WcDonald's, taking a seat that is directly opposite to you and annoy you with his stare, making your work less tolerable.
He's just busy, that's all.
Wait, why am I even caring about that Q-Tip? Ugh."Good job, Shin-ae!" your manager says as you retreat to the employee's locker room to retrieve your things. You have finished your six-hour shift. You give him a smile, and take your leave.
It was raining, and you rummage through your things, looking for an umbrella, like you even brought one. Realizing you really did forget your umbrella at home, you sigh and wait for the rain to calm.
You look at your phone to see the time. 12:27 am. The rain still hasn't let up. There is no one in sight, noting the place, time of night, and heavy rain.
Thankful for it being a very early Saturday morning, you think about making a run for it to the bus stop. You search for plastics in your bag to put on your head and protect your bag. Tightening the knot on your plastic bag hat, you take a deep breath before sprinting.
"Just what on earth are you doing?" a deep voice says, making you jump from fright.
"What the—" you turn to the source of the voice, and see those icy blue eyes and that haircut you find funny.
"What are you doing?" Kousuke asked again under his umbrella.
"Tryna make a run for the bus stop. The bus passes by soon. I only have three more minutes." you reply, anxious for him to go.
Kousuke only facepalms. This annoys you, and you still have to catch the 12:30am bus home, so you give him a small "bye" and run to the bus stop.
Not even halfway to the bus stop, and you are drenched to the skin. The plastic bag hat doesn't do any good, since it has a large tear on the side. Slowing down to a miserable walk, you try to steady your breathing.
Peering through the rain, you search for the bus's headlights when you notice it stops raining on your torn plastic bag hat.
What the—
"What a foolish thing to do, Miss Yoo." Kousuke says, holding the umbrella over you.
You can only sigh at his looming height, and feel a bit grateful for the company. You know that you're going to miss the bus. A few moments after, the bus passes by. You feel down, and consider asking Kousuke if you can borrow his umbrella.
"Can I borrow your umbrella? I'll have to walk home—"
"Nonsense, you're coming with me. I'll ask my driver to stop by your house." Kousuke replies.
You look up at him, planning to refuse politely to not cause him trouble and just walk home. He catches your gaze and for a moment, you thought the ice in his eyes is starting to thaw.
Achoo!
"Ah, you sneezed on me." He says, wiping the front of his shirt with a handkerchief.
You sniff, and start to shiver under your wet clothes. Kousuke notices this, and pulls you back to the WcDonald's.
"What?" you ask, sniffing again.
Kousuke hands his handkerchief to you. You accept it and say thanks.
"We're going back to the company building. You're not getting anywhere with those wet clothes." he says.
He leads you to the Hirahara Corporation Building and asks you to wait in the lobby while he gets you dry clothes. He comes back, with a pink dress shirt and khaki capris.
"Thanks." you shakily say and proceed to the comfort room to change. Luckily, your underwear is dry enough, so you just wiped yourself with tissues, put on the clothes he gave you, then put your wet clothes in one of the plastic bags you used in waterproofing your belongings. You take a look in the mirror, and see that the clothes were too big on you. The cuffs of the dress shirt hang a good feet away from your wrists, and the capris look like cuffed boyfriend pants.
Cuffed boyfriend pants? What are you thinking, Shin-ae!
You sniff again, and this time, you caught the scent of the clothes. You blush at the lemony musky scent. You pat your cheeks hastily, flustered. You gather your things and go back to the lobby to thank him.
"Hey, thank you for this." you tell Kousuke, who has his back turned on you.
"Take this medi— Ah." he says, turning around to give you a tablet and a glass of water but get cut short since he saw you in his own dress shirt. You look at him and take the medicine. He recomposes himself, blinking hard.
Did he just—?
Beep beep! Kousuke's ride has arrived.
"Ah, great. Come on, Miss Yoo." He says hurriedly, and you follow him out to the car. You both get in, and he tells the driver to stop at your apartment for a bit.
Pretty soon, you arrive at your apartment and you thank Kousuke for the ride. You tell him that you owe him for tonight. He looks at you through the rearview mirror and hums a reply. Thanking him one last time, you step out of the car and hurry inside.
You fumble around, looking for your house key. You do find it, and start for the door knob. Before the tip of the key can touch the door knob, a noticeably large hand holds on to yours, making you drop your key.
What—
Kousuke is looking at you, and the apples of his cheeks are tinged pink. Motionless, you just stare at him with wide eyes.
"I'm not good with this sort of thing." he breathes.
Just what is he—
"I like you, Shin-ae." he says softly, turning your hand over so he can kiss it. He proceeds to do so, and it makes you feel relieved in a way.
Ah, I've fallen for this Q-Tip.
I didn't even realize it.He looks at you, with your hand pressed to his lips, and you reach out with said hand to hold his face.
"The thing is, I also like you, Kousuke." you say with a smile.
Surprised with you calling his name, and with a confession too, his ice-blue eyes now look like pool water. He lets out a relieved sigh and hugs you tight in the dim hallway of the apartment complex.
