The rest of the day went pretty well I guess you could say. So did the rest of the week. At home I would spend my time eating and watching tv, that was until I heard a knock on a Friday night.

I was bored out of my mind wondering what everyone else did in this town for fun. I hadn't used my bike since we first arrived here in Hawkins and even if I did, I had no where to go. Sitting in the living room with my back bent with terrible posture, I was seated on the couch watching tv with Leon or as I call sometimes, Lee. He was flipping through the channels until I saw something good and called out "don't change it!" but he changed it. I rolled my eyes letting my back drop further down, ruining the good posture my mother always made me have. The doorbell rang and I looked over at the door, anxious.

Nobody seemed to have heard it or at least care to answer so I got up and walked over. I opened the door slowly and to my surprise I found my new friends smiling. "Hey we were wondering if you'd like to join us at the arcade.. of course only if you want to" Mike said. I gave a faint smile which should've been more happy. "Mom I'm going to hang out with my friends!" "don't be home late!" she called out. I quickly closed to door and we all got on our bikes. "Max is supposed to meet us there and so is Jane" Dustin said as we started pedaling. "Ooh, Max and Jane... Seems to me like they don't really like each other" it got silent after I said that. Lucas sighed. "Theres been some misunderstandings and conflict" I raised my eyebrow. "Conflict? Like?" "Stuff we shouldn't tell you. Its just for the best" Don't know why that hit me so hard. It really made me realize that although they could be my closest friends, I knew I would feel like the outcast somehow.

We got to the arcade and left our bikes outside. "Never been to one before" I said looking around. Will looked at me "It's uh, really something different from Hawkins. We usually come here a lot and spend quite a lot of time, and money." he laughed. Although it wasn't that funny, I laughed and his smile felt quite comforting. "Ah shit!" Dustin yelled. We all turned to him. "What happened?" asked Max. "I forgot all my money at home." he sighed. "Does anyone have any extra money?" everyone shook their heads. "We've only got ours" said Mike. I put a hand in my pocked and checked. To my surprise, I had quite a lot of spare change. I took it out of the pocket and handed it over to him. He smiled at me widely "Thanks!" he quickly went to his game. I looked around for Jane and saw her no where. "Guys?" I said silently. Nobody seemed to have heard me. They all seemed to have been invested in their game. I looked around and couldn't seem to find her. I slowly walked over to the window and saw her standing outside. "What the-" I walked closer to the door this time. It was so weird, it was like she was looking at something but nobody seemed to see her. I walked out the door and whispered "Jane?" she turned to me and grabbed my wrist.

My eyes opened in surprise, fear, and confusion. I knew Jane was different than everyone else here in Hawkins so I was terrified something would happen to me. My hand closed and I clenched my fist. "Who are you really?" she looked me in the eyes. Her voice was firm and her eyes made me nervous. "Im nobody else other than who you know me as" I took my arm away. "Liar! WHO ARE YOU REALLY?!" She got closer to me. I took a few steps back and took a deep breath. She took my arm once again and pulled up my sleeve. Under it, the numbers "001" were in bold black letters. "One.." she said silently. My heart dropped as I looked down at my wrists to her.
