I quickly pulled my sleeve back down and looked up. Her curiosity was now gone and a frown was pulled upon her face. I felt dread and I backed away, knowing the harm she could do if she desired.
"When are you going to tell them? You can't hide it!" her mumbling turned into yells. "Tell them? What am I supposed to tell them? 'Oh guys I forgot to mention I have secret powers and I might be dangerous but it's ok! You all are aware now' No." I shook my head and brushed past her up the cement steps, a hand on the door. She turned and said firmly "You have to tell them." I let out a deep breath and turned. "I'm not going to tell them. And you aren't either. This isn't your business." "I'm trying to help you" "Help me with what?" She stayed silent looking at me. I turned back and pulled on the door, opening it.
"Jesus Christ we were looking for you. Where's El- Jane?" asked Dustin. "Outside.. taking a breath. She's fine, well that's what she told me at least." I fixed my coat and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. I heard Jane walk back inside but I made my way to the door. "Wait.. Where are you going Nat?" Mike called out. I turned my head back and said firmly "Home." It was the first time anyone had called me a nickname, well besides the bullies that stroll the halls. As soon as I walked out the door and started making my way back home, I felt some regret. I couldn't believe i had done that. Ugh, and I wonder why I feel excluded. I put my bike in the garage and could smell some sort of scent I didn't like. Of course. Before I walked inside the backdoor of the house, I peeked my head to the side of the house. There he was, my father, in a chair beside the bathroom window. He looked to be wondering looking at the stars.
I walked over to him and out my hands inside my coat. "Nice sky huh? Don't you think it would be even better if you put the damn thing down?" I laughed and so did he. "Yeah but you know, same old thing." he looked at me and I took a seat in a chair beside him. I was always closer to my dad than I was with my mother. Usually girls would go shopping with their moms and gossip but that wasn't the case for me. "What'd she do this time?" I focused my attention on him. "Well she was going on and on about how we weren't safe here. The usual, blaming me for the job" "Well it ain't your fault" He put his cigarette out and I took a deep breath. "Hey dad?" "Yeah?" he answered. "Well.. on my first day of school I uh, I happened to notice something. There was a girl.. her arm- you know." "She's like you." he interrupted. "Yeah and she happens to know about me. I kind of went to check on her and she seemed to already have known. I just thought I'd tell you, I don't like keeping things." I started rambling and just like that, my dad handed me a monq pen. I held it in my hand and looked up at him. "I know how stressed you are. Just go to your room, it'll help you out and just sleep. Everything will turn out fine and before you know it, this will all be over." a smile tugged on his lips. I got up and walked inside, carefully closing the door.
I took my coat off and hung it over my shoulder as I made my way to the kitchen. "Still hungry?" mom asked. I looked at her cleaning the table. "Uh no. I just wanted to let you know I was back." She nodded and I walked to the living room. "Your boyfriend came" Lee said while flipping through the channels. I stood beside the tv. I had to deal with mom not caring, I don't need anyone else's crap. "No one in that group is even close to that. I don't know what you're talking about." I rolled my eyes and walked a few steps up the stairs. "You know what I was talking about." "Clearly I don't" I said as I walked inside my room. To my surprise there was chocolates sitting on my bed. I quickly closed the door and threw my coat on a chair. I hurried over and sat on my bed picking up the chocolates. A note seemed to be attached on the back of the box. I took it off and read it
"Hope your week here has been great, we should get to know each other more :) -Troy"
Troy? I had exactly two days left to figure out who Troy was before I went back to school.

That Monday morning I had no energy to get up but my mom somehow made me. I put on a jean skirt my mother had bought for me and I knew she would get mad if I didn't wear it. I put on a colorful long sleeve shirt and pulled my hair up in a high ponytail. I put on some white shoes and grabbed my backpack running downstairs. I was just about to go outside when my mom looked at me and said "Take a seat, your food is ready." I gulped and looked at her "I ain't hungry" Mom turned away and didn't respond so I went out. I got on my bike and hurried over to school.
Once I got there I went straight to class and walked over to my seat. I was like the second one there so it was pretty quiet. I put my backpack down and felt someone tap my shoulder as I turned around startled. "Oh my gosh you scared me" I laughed and so did Will. "Sorry, I just haven't talked to you and wanted to say hey." he smiled making me smile. "Yeah, I guess it was pretty bad leaving like that. I just felt.. uncomfortable" Dustin walked in with Mike, Max and Lucas and they made their way over to me. Dustin smiled "Natalie the man! What is up?" "Natalie is a girl Dustin" Will said "Same difference" Max rolled her eyes at Dustin. "So what awesome tricks can you do?? Can you read minds? Or have like super strength?" Lucas asked. I felt a knot in my stomach. "Pardon me?" "You weren't supposed to say anything!" Mike turned to Lucas. Max sighed "Sorry about them.. Jane, told us about your little secret." "Alright class take your seats." the teacher called out. They all quietly walked to their seats blaming each other quietly. I was still shocked and I felt myself panicking. I took a seat slowly and looked at the desk trying to figure out what to do. My heart was pacing and every breath I took seemed to be getting bigger. In the background, I could hear the teacher taking role. I couldn't hear them clear but one name stood out. "Troy" "Here" I turned to the voice. It was the boy with the brown hair next to me. Is he the one that gave me the chocolates? He noticed me looking at me and he smiled. I faked a smile and I turned my head back to the front.
