Only half of the boys are able to move back into their old apartments, Junmyeon and Yixing having to move back in with relatives. However, five of the nine boys still remain; Kyungsoo, Chanyeol, Minseok, Sehun and Jongdae. Sehun and Jongdae have to stay here in order to go to university, otherwise travel costs would be extortionate. Kyungsoo and Chanyeol also have to stay due to having no money and Minseok had a roommate before but he left them behind on bitter terms. The boys are always on high alert, however there has been no activity since the rest of the boys left the house. It is a good month on from then and yet there is still no activity. However, they all know better than to expect that whatever is haunting them will just 'go away'. It is almost two months along and the five seem to have almost completely forgotten about the spirits, just continuing on their days.
The five still stay in contact with the others, video chatting and messaging often, a few times even meeting up due to the fear of losing each other to long distance. The house is now alive with the hubbub of the evening - meaning that it's dinner time.
"Chanyeol? Can you get another plate?" Minseok asks, grabbing tongs for the bowl of salad that rests in the centre of the table.
"Sehun! Grab your mutt!" Kyungsoo shouts, shooing Vivi away from the sizzling steak resting on each of their plates. Chanyeol returns with the extra plate.
"Jongdae, can you get the lemonade? It's in the fridge." Chanyeol asks, placing the delicate crockery on the table. As Kyungsoo turns to put a serving of sweet potatoes onto Jongdae's plate, he notices that the steak is missing.
"SEHUN! What have I told you about your damn dog-" Kyungsoo starts, but soon stops when he realises that Vivi is pawing at the glass door to the dining room, begging to be let in for the steak. Sehun storms into the dining room from the kitchen.
"What?" He asks, irritated. He sees the older point to the dinner. It takes him a moment to figure out what he is getting at.
"Where'd it go?" He asks. Kyungsoo shrugs, huffing before returning to the kitchen to cook another slice of steak. Sehun searches around the room for the wandering steak, but after checking beneath the table for it (as it might have slid from the plate and onto the floor) he looks across from him to see a pair of battered feet and skeletal legs. He gasps and rises to his feet so quickly that he hits his head off of the table. He hisses in pain, clutching his head while ambling into the kitchen to grab one of his friends.
"Guys! Shit!" He gasps as his head begins to swell. "There was someone in the dining room!"
"We have been over this, Sehun." Jongdae sighs, tired of hearing about spirits that could be inhabiting the house.
"No I swear, I saw it-" he is cut off by Minseok who groans loudly.
"Listen. We get that you are still freaked out from the stuff that happened before, but trust me - us, when we say this. The spirits supposedly haunting us, aren't real. Ok? Don't you think that this has been going on for a little too long, Sehun?" Minseok says softly. He wraps an arm around the younger boy and leads him into the dining room, Sehun is still shivering from the encounter from before. The two sit together which leaves the three in the kitchen. Jongdae looks at the two skeptically before also disappearing into the dining room.
"What's gotten into him?" Chanyeol asks, unnerved by the older's gaze. The younger shrugs while turning over the sizzling steak.
"No idea, but one thing's for sure - Sehun's telling the truth." He says confidently. He sighs and leans back into Chaneyol, tired.
"When will this thing end, Yeol?" He asks, voice going a little hoarse. The older only shakes his head, uncertain himself.Soon after dinner, Minseok and Kyungsoo are in charge of putting away the dishes while the three others decide what movie they are going to watch. Upon washing the dishes, Minseok is unaware that Kyungsoo has left the room and so continues washing them and putting them on top of the drying board. A large hand, much too large to be the younger's, grasps the glass and dries it with a dish towel, placing it onto the counter at the other side of the room. Minseok soon hears footsteps coming from behind the kitchen door and turns around seeing that nobody else is in the kitchen with him. Kyungsoo enters through the door, carrying more dishes as well as the knives and forks.
"When did you leave?" Minseok jokes, taking the plates from Kyungsoo.
"A few minutes ago, didn't you notice?" He replies. Minsoek only shakes his head.
"No, you couldn't have. You put those glasses over there." He points to the countertop and to the five glasses sitting on top of the granite.
"I didn't dry those, Min. I've been gone for at least five minutes." Kyungsoo explains, eyes wider than usual.
"Really? So then who could've dried-" An eerie feeling sweeps over him mid-sentence, causing the hairs to stand up on his neck.
"No, no and no. There's no such thing as ghosts, Soo." He shivers, pointing an accusing finger at Kyungsoo.
"Well I didn't dry those. Ask the other three, I was collecting dishes from the living room since they've already eaten their first bowl of popcorn."
"Holy shit. No. You're telling me that you didn't dry those dishes? And that you were gone? So someone else dried them? That's bullshit!" Minseok suddenly shouts, trying his best to think of logical reasons as to why this might've happened.
"Calm down, Min."
"No! You dried those dishes and you put them over there."
"But I didn't!"
"You did! Stop lying. This isn't funny, Kyungsoo!"
"I'm not lying, Minseok! I'm telling the truth!"
"Then how in the fuck did they get from over here to over there, dried as well without your aid!? Because the last time that I checked, dishes can't fucking grow legs and fucking run across the kitchen floor!" The three others have come through the door at this time, worried about all of the shouting. Minseok wrings out the cloth, throws it into the basin of water and storms out, leaving the others to do the rest of the dishes. Jongdae speaks up.
"What did you do, now?" He asks, earning an annoyed glare from Kyungsoo who isn't in the mood. The boys are finding that due to this house, their relationship with each other is getting more and more strained. Their tolerance for each other is wearing thin, but if their other friends are to return after a short break away from the house, will they too add to the pressure?
