I'm hugging all my family and friends goodbye when and announcement comes on the loud speaker, saying that my flight is leaving in 15 minutes. I quickly say goodbye to everyone again and run off to the terminal. While I'm waiting in line, I'm trying to stretch my head over the top of everyone so I can see what the hold up is. There's some guy talking to the flight attendant, violently tapping his finger and looking frustrated. I squeeze myself up to the front of line, worst comes to worst, I moved up 10 spots.

I ask the guy, who's in about his mid-20's, what's going on. "There's this girl that I'm supposed to be looking after from Australia. She won some competition for this company I work for and it's my job to escort her to Canada." I instantly know that the girl is me.

After we sort everything out, we end up getting on the plane before everyone else. Score. The flight is pretty long, so I settle in with some in flight movies and peanuts. The guy who's supposed to be taking me to Canada leans in closer to me. "I'm Quincy by the way. I don't think I introduced myself." I smile at him and explain how thankful I am for him to be taking me in this trip, and the story of how I won it. On the flight we end up talking about things to do in Vancouver, where I'm from, and our favourite movies and tv shows.

"My favourite movie is probably IT," I tell Quincy.
He smirks at me and gives off a slight chuckle. "Is it now?"
"Um, yes?"
He laughs a bit more and then turns to me. "I sort of have some ties with the guy who plays Richie," he says smugly.
I laugh and respond sarcastically, explaining that I don't really care for meeting famous people. They're all the same. Smug. Rich. Boring.

The plane has a heavy landing and the wet tarmac, although Vancouver looks beautiful this time of the year. We pick up our baggage from the collection point and get an UBER to the hotel. Quincy explains to me how it's going to work. We each have a seperate hotel room next to each other, and he's pretty much a chaperone. He'll take me out sightseeing and to do other touristy activities, but for a few nights I have to hang out with his friends and family to see how people in Canada live. Not necessarily looking forward to hanging out with his friends, but whatever, it's a free trip.

We get to the hotel room and by the time I'm unpacked it's nearly 11pm. Quincy's given me a list of phone numbers I can call if anything goes wrong. It's not like he's sleeping 10 feet away from me or anything.

The next morning we both wake up at around 8am, and go downstairs for our buffet breakfast. "So today, we're going to the Vancouver aquarium. Is that alright with you?"
"Yeah! I love aquariums."
"Ok cool. Also I forgot to mention, but one of my friends and his brother are co I g with us, if that's ok. It's part of the deal, you have to spend some time with people from Vancouver in exchange for a free trip. Remember?"
"Yeah, Yeah. Whatever."

We get a train to the aquarium, and I've already fallen in love with it. Where I'm from we don't have anything like this at all. Today might not be 100% terrible.
