It was once said that those who were desperate to change something in their lives, those who cried themselves to sleep, and those who felt neglected would out of the blue receive a peculiar switch and a note through mail.
Those who received the letter described it, each of them uttered the exact same words.
"The envelope was white, but slightly yellowed from age. There was a crimson red seal directly stamped on the flap. The words: the answer to your desperate cries at dusk were etched on the bottom left corner."
No one knew who sent them out, given that there was no address. Perhaps it was a witch? A wizard? Though, most assumed it was the gods.

"The pancakes are burning, (Y/N)!" one of your siblings blurted.
You jolted awake from the shrieks of your two younger siblings. You were sitting at the dining table with your math textbook in hand.

You rose up, dropped your textbook, and scurried to the stove where the horrid, burning smell came from.

"I apologize, you two. I fell asleep," you mumbled as you threw the wasted pancakes away.

Complaints began pouring out of their mouths and you just stood there, trying not to let sleep overtake you.
"We still have plenty of cereal," you suggested, forcefully tugging your lips upwards.
They grunted and approached the snack pantry.

It has been hard on you. Your mother was ill, father always working, and here you were, left with two loud and obnoxious pests. You still loved them. They were just a nuisance.

Once they headed out for school, you relaxed.
"Finally, peace and fucking quiet," you hummed.

You began your trek to UA.
Upon arriving, you were greeted by Ochaco, Izuku and Iida alongside her.

"You look beat, (Y/N)! How're you putting up with your siblings?" Ochaco gasped.

You laughed it off and assured them you were alright. With their worried expressions, you could tell they weren't buying it.

Suddenly, you spotted a certain icy-hot individual not so far away from you and your friends.

You two were archenemies.
It all started when you were both first-years. His actions confounded you. You confronted him about it, resulting in a dispute and making matters worse. From then on, you two became foes.

"Maybe you should've tried to understand him," the angel on your shoulder cooed.

"No! Who has time for that?" the devil on your shoulder retorted back.

Maybe because of all the stress in your life, you resulted in taking out your anger on him.

"(Y/N), s-snap out of it!" Izuku sputtered and snapped you out of your thoughts.

You rapidly blinked before your eyes found Todoroki again, his eyes meeting yours and his lips curling up to a smirk.

"You damned half-and-half-bastard, get that smug expression off your face!" you barked.

Your friends could only sigh as the two of you bickered. You did all the screaming and shouting while Todoroki only made quiet, snarky remarks.

At least it couldn't get any worse.

"She sounds like Bakugou," Kaminari commented.

"WHAT THE FUCK, I SOUND NOTHING LIKE THAT FUCKFACE," Bakugou countered.

Yeah, it got worse.

                      ———

You returned from school even more beat and lifeless. You collapsed on your bed and shut your heavy lidded eyes.

"I want things to go back to how it was," you pleaded in your head.

"I miss you, mom."

With that, you began sniffling. Tears welled up in your eyes and began to shed.

"I feel so alone."

      ———

Someone out there heard your cries. You sounded so broken and so vulnerable. You were exactly what they were looking for. A shattered being.
You really weren't anticipating what was c̸̫̫̦̀̑̀o̸͉̘͕̿m̵̱͐͌i̵̭͆n̷͚̂g̶̙̍̕ ̶͕͓̥̎͛y̷̘̆o̶̭͋͒ȕ̸̖̼͇́r̸͕̳͑̐ ̸͖͋͜w̵̩͕̍ă̷̦̖͍̒y̷͕̹̑.̷̥̐̀͘͜

      ———

Your eyes fluttered open, realizing you fell asleep. You avert your gaze to the clock. It was 7:16 pm. You were asleep for almost four hours.

You jumped out of bed and checked your phone. Your father had left a message.

To: (Y/N)
From: Dad
"Hey, (Y/N). You don't have to worry about cooking for your siblings. I'll be cooking for you three. I'm coming home early, around 7:30. Could you go check the mail?"

"I bet he's worried about our bills," you thought out loud.

You walked to the room your two siblings shared. They were just there, absorbed in their gadgets.

"You two, dad's coming home early. I'll be out to check the mail," you announced, twirling the keys in your hand.

They responded with a quick "mhm," their eyes still glued to the iPad. They were ignoring you.

You stomped out of the house and slammed the door. You were irritated. The fresh air hit you and you calmed down, feeling a sense of comfort.

The keys jingled as you wrenched the mailbox door open. You dipped your hand in and pulled out the stack of envelopes and flyers.

The majority were just ads from companies.
"Pizza ad, car ad, bullshit ads," you mumbled, flipping through the stack.

An ad after the other, you finally found something rather important. The electrical bill.

You ripped it open and skimmed over the paper.

Your jaw dropped and you took a sharp intake of breath.
"This is too expensive!"

Your father could only make so much. He would have to cover more shifts to pay for all this! You felt so helpless.

You peeked into the mailbox to make sure you didn't forget anything.
There was another letter laying in there. You snatched it and headed back home.

     ———

You analyzed the letter in hand. It was white but slightly yellowed from age. It had a crimson red seal, and the words: the answer to your desperate cries at dusk written on the bottom corner.

How peculiar.

I'm in the midst of working on school projects right now. Damn you school! I'll try updating soon!
