hopeless romantic

she's a hopeless romantic who chases the wind,

loving the sinner and hating the sin,

fighting the battles she knows she won't win,

thousands of fishing lines roping her in,

she's a hopeless romantic who's hungry for love,

clinging to things that her aching heart wants,

closer to hell than the heavens above,

her longing outweighing the knots in her gut,

she's a hopeless romantic, heart broken in two,

from past misadventures and things she went through,

she'll get attached and stick with you like glue,

even when she knows that she will lose you,

she's a hopeless romantic who's naive and pure,

a girl who's dependant 'cause she's insecure,

innocent, sensitive, dancing with strangers,

bait, for those who can target and take her,

she's a hopeless romantic in a world dark and cruel,

who dreams like she's sleeping and loves like a fool,

looking for meaning and bending the rules,

despite her surroundings she's still beautiful,

she's a hopeless romantic who just wants to please,

band-aids and bruises now plaster her knees,

hoping and praying for final relief,

to the harrowing loneliness lurking beneath,

she's a hopeless romantic, a beautiful mess,

tears on her skin, they flow like a dress,

crying and wondering what's coming next,

back to start where she was once again,

she's a hopeless romantic, dripping in ink,

growing too fast, questioning things,

her heart and her mind fight a war in the deep,

so she wrote down this poem,

because that girl is me.
