siren

i'm dizzy from the spinning,

and i'm seasick from the rocking,

as soon as i lose sight of god,

the devil comes a'knocking,

a tempter in the distance,

leading me into the fog,

he's beckoning my heart,

into a swirling sea mirage,

i'm just a lonely sailor,

and the waves have done me harm,

i know i should stay close to shore,

and not to voyage far,

he's among the jagged rocks,

his voice singing my name,

there is no returning now,

it's long past way too late,

"take my hollowed soul,

it will not satisfy your hunger!"

i say as i vanish,

upon the final clap of thunder.
