The kiss

My skin itches as I throw my sweater on over my long sleeve black and white shirt. My big army green jeans were saggy and my belt was latched on the smallest setting, as usual. The pockets had holes in them and the knees were worn and torn in every way. I knew my outfit was interesting and a bit strange but it was cold and jack and I were going for a hike later. I hear Jack's voice flood the room as he walks inside from collecting wood for the fire. His eyes were glowing like white flowers in the dark, like the first stars of the night. My heat flew when he looked at me, his mouth formed into the smallest smile possible as he walked towards me.
"Good afternoon my baby" he spoke softly, smiling with his teeth showing. He grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers. I most obviously blush when he stands on his tippy toes to kiss the very tip of my nose, ever so lightly.
"Hey, weirdo." I giggle wiping away his kiss. He frowns a bit, turning to me and looking me in the eyes. He places his palms on my cheeks as he leans in close. His breath hitches softly on his throat as he brushes my curly hair out of my eyes. His mouth closes gently as he smiles calmly, jolting my head forwards, pulling me into a hug. My stomach lurches as it becomes queasy. His lips missed mine by an inch, oh how I wish that inch didn't exist. He giggles, jumping up and down, his arms still wrapped around me, squashing my body.
"Okay, jack. Let's get ready for our hike!" I speak quieter than normal. I pull away from him as he looks up at me. I was much taller than him, forcing him to tip his head way back to meet my eyes. His curls fell away from his eyes as he jumped up and down trying to get me to hug him again after I had let go.
"One more hug then we have to get going!" His smile was huge as his eyes glistened like raindrops on an ice covered pond. I shrug embracing his small body against mine. He grins against my arm, his head rested ever so softly on my chest. His hair smelled of lilac seeds and strawberry warheads. I breath out steadily, all I wanted was him. All I wanted was for him to love me, the way I loved him. Never would it happen, not as long as he's straight and with Ellie. I cringe at her name flooding my brain. I shake my head roughly, causing jack to flinch.
"What? You okay?" He spat the words out quickly.
"Yeah yeah. I'm great! Now let's get going!" I say rapidly before pulling my body away from his. His lip stuck out as his frown grew by the second.
"Bubba" he whined lightly tugging on my hand. His soft fingers floated over my sleeve as I signed, rolling my eyes.
"What?" I laugh at his sad face.
"I just wanna snuggle. My baby boy legs can't carry me up a hill today." He groans stomping his feet gently, still tugging on my sleeve.
"Jack, we can snuggle when we get home, and you can do my nails! As long as we have that... remover stuff, ya-know?" I smile as his face lighten like a flashlight in a haunted house. He began jumping up and down as he ran to the door, shoving his feet into his boots. I grin, releasing my laugh. He giggled giddily as Nick entered the cabin.
"Someone is happy? What happened, jack? Did Finn finally kiss you back?" Nick laughed at his joke, jack looked slightly confused tilting his head to the side softly. His eyebrows were furrowed as he watched nick put on his coat. The confusion written on his face made my stomach jolt as his eyes met mine, looking for an explanation. I shrugged innocently before walking to the door and grabbing his arm. Jacks face grew brighter when I held onto him, my stomach swarmed with butterflies.
"Nick, get on your shoes we have to go now if we want to make it back in time to do Finns nails!" Jack giggled rapidly as nick turned to us also letting small laughs escape his lips.
"Okay princesses, i'm on it jeez." Nick spoke in a higher tone, laughter seeped from jacks mouth when he heard it. His laugh was like peach leaves and marshmallows. My heart jumped when jack grabbed onto my hand, pulling me to the door. My smile forms immediately after seeing jacks baby strawberry pink cheeks. I rush out with jack, eager to find the hiking trail. Jack lets out a holler as he looks at me, his face was taken over with fear.
"Bubba!!! I touched poison ivy! Bubba I'm gonna die, I'll die before our wedding! No! Bubba seriously my heart is falling out of my chest, I'm going to die!!" He screeches the words as if they were the most important things on the earth. I roll my eyes walking to him in a hurried manner.
"Jack, that isn't poison ivy." I say observing the plant that looked like a dandelion stem. He threw himself to the ground, placing the back of the wrist to his head and his other hand over his heart.
"Did you? Are you? But I? Bubba I feel faint, bubba i- i" His words hover over my head falling through my ears. I watch his eyes close as a grin appears on his face. I could tell he didn't even realize he was smiling, giggling I step over his body making my way down the trail. He screams as he throws his arms in the air,
"Dead!!" He hollers, getting up after he realized I was already gone. I let out heaps of laughter as he starts running after me.
"Wait up losers!" I hear nick scream as he make his way to where we stood by the woods.
"Nickie finnlard didn't care that I almost died!" Jack spoke loudly as nicks eyes met mine. I feel my skin heat up and turn red as jack turned to me puckering up his lips.
"Jack you weren't gonna die. It wasn't even poison ivy dude" I calmly speak to him as he grins, his smile was like writing poetry outside in summer. I laugh as we all head up the trail. Nick shakes his head over our meaningless fights we had as he ruffles my hair, passing me. Jack strays behind picking up random things off the path. He walked steadily bent down a little staring at the ground. I shake my head stopping as jacks head rams into my back. He jolts back falling on his butt harshly.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" I apologize worried I actually hurt him. He lets out a stream of giggles as he holds up a bind of flowers. "What-"
"I picked them for you" he spoke softly, smiling pitifully. His face was like the first snow of the year. My fingers tingle as I reach my hand out, helping him up. He holds the flowers out to me once he's on his feet. My heart beats faster than a stampede. My hands shake as I take the flowers from him, smiling wider than ever.
"Thanks, jack." My voice seems almost choked up as my eyes meet his.
"Always bubba!" The end of 'bubba' latches on his throat and becomes a higher pitch. He grins sweetly as nicks voice sounds off loudly
"Hurry up, if we are gonna get home in time for nail painting and all that Jazz we have to get going!" I laugh as jacks eyes and mine meet before we race to the top of the hill where nick walked.
